I don't know about anyone else, but after being at NAMM for 4 days it was a complete letdown to go back to making topographic maps for whiny engineers and architects. :D

Topo maps...that brings back memories!

I was a forestry major in college. One of the things I had to do was create a topo map of a large tract of land.

By hand.

Using data gathered by actually walking the land with a compass, an inclinometer, a measurement chain and a notebook. Basically centuries-old technology.

Fun, actually. Today you'd just use a GPS.

hey adoug, that century old technology is what I'll be using on a land nav. course later on today! They told me that GPS batteries die, so we still learn to plot azimuths the old fashion way! /pout

do you have any maps of Tasmania? No one outside of Australia will get this gag, but have a look at the shape of Tasmania and see if you can work it out?

Haha! I never investigated the shape of Tasmania before... yet it looks familiar. :D
