I had mine out about 4 years ago. I had two attacks before I got surgery, but it wasn't "emergency" surgery.

My first attack I was beating my head on the counter trying to knock myself out the pain was so bad. So, I've been there, done that, got the high octane prescription medication. :D The surgery was a piece of cake, though. I actually walked down/up a flight of stairs carrying my dachsund out to pee less than 24 hours later. Getting in and out of bed was a beeyotch, but once I was vertical, it was all good.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery!

I think they were worried about appendicitis at first but it was so high in the abdomen. Was surprised at how quickly they got me into surgery. I heard the same sort of stories from friends where it was several bouts of head banging pain before they would offer surgery as an option.

The surgery was a piece of cake for me as well. I couldn't wait to get home and I feel much better up and around.

When I had that surgery, I came home, flopped down in my recliner and would wake up every now and then to take another vicodin. I spent the whole week like that. It was kind of like a vacation.

Here's to a fast and painless recovery.

I will avoid Vicodin at all costs since my wisdom teeth were taken out-the stuff deactivated my balance centers and had me completely smashed. But my teeth didn't hurt, so it was an even trade.

Went in for emergency gall bladder surgery. Just got out today. Most intense pain I have ever been in. Morphine trumps meditation anyday. Looks like I got some catching up to do. Hopefully won't be too annoying as I can't go back to work until thursday.

Hope all is well in the world of EBMM.

Tom

Wishes for a speedy recovery to you, Tom!

And while you are full of pain killers, don't forget to record your bass noodling; lot's of crazy stuff may end up on tape:)

If you are up to it come down to the Guitar Center Tuesday Apr 4th @ 7pm (Broadway and Swan). You can cheer me on and whoop it up while I play my EBMM guitar in the Guitarmageddon finals.

Gonna try to make it Norm.

Whoa! Glad to hear you're on the way back to normal life, man.

You want to hear something scary? I had my appendix taken out in the middle of the night in South America.

So as much as it sucks to end up in surgery, be thankful for American doctors, nurses, beds, etc.

Very thankful. Everything went smoothly once they got me diagnosed. Was amazed at how efficient the whole deal was.

I wanna hear the full story on the appendix one of these days. So they showed it to Erika. interesting...

Did you wake up in a bathtub full of ice, with a cryptic message scrawled on the bathroom mirror in lipstick? :D

Erika's uncle did my surgery. Thankfully, he's one of the premiere surgeons in Peru and was educated in the US. The scary part was that I knew him, until that night, only as my heavy-drinking pal. I mean, I loved the guy, but we were DRUNKS.

I'll tell the whole story someday. Pretty funny - now that I can look back on it.

At the time - not so much.
