I'm sure it's me, and I'm trying to like iTunes (I'm a devoted "Mac only" user since 1985), but I can't seem to organize my songs/albums the way I'd like to. iTunes just seems to list all my songs in a long list. Yes, it groups the songs from an album together, but it eliminates the folder that housed the individual album's songs. Instead of a long list of songs, I'd like a list of folders in which are stored the songs for that particular album. Make sense? Possible? Is my only option to make a gazillion Playlists, one for each album?

Well iTunes is really easy to use so I hope this helps.

- Take a look in the edit menu- make sure the BROWSER is ON. If it's on all you have to do is select the genre, artist, or albums. That should fix your problem.

The wise Mingus one speak the truth. Although truthfully I've heard this complaint before and I don't understand it. For me iTunes is one of the most logical pieces of software I have ever used. Also, in the preferences there is an option to shuffle by album, that may be of use to you as well.

Thanks for the advice, guys, but unless I'm missing something, that still doesn't address the issue that's plaguing me. Instead of a long list of individual songs, I want to see a list of individual folders, each of which houses the songs from that particular album. I know I can group the individual album's songs together within the long list, but that's not really what I'm after. Maybe I'm just not explaining myself well enough. :)

Maybe this still isn't what you want, but you can drag the bottom of the browse window and extend so that when you click on the album you see the list of songs for that album underneath it. If this isn't what you want then I am afraid iTunes can't do what you want.

I don't understand what you are trying to do if what I said doesn't do the trick. What I suggested gives you individual "folders" for each album/artist/genre. I don't know why you would need or want anything different.

The playlist option is a fairly simple solution. Make playlist, go to library, put name of album in the browser window and your list of songs should come up. Select all songs, depress apple key and drag all songs into your playlist folder for that album. Should take about 30 seconds.

Just turned the browser on, so scrub my last post. This browser must be a new iTunes update, as it wasn't on it when I got my Mac 3 years ago.

I don't know the answer, nor do I know if anyone's already posted it (only read the starting post), BUT, there's heaps of info on www.ipodlounge.com

Worth a look
