That gallbladder must have been kicking me around for quite sometime. Just amazed at the energy and drive I suddenly have again. Got done practicing for about half an hour. I've got alot of work to do on dexterity but I'm amazed at how quick I'm getting back the reading skills and applying theory to the fretboard. I know there is a plethora of enthusiasm and energy on this bored but I hope some of mine can rub off on somebody that needs it.

i could use some of it. i already have heaps of enthusiasm, but university and work are killing the energy.

Yup, glad to hear it!! I know I feel much better with the use of my left hand again!! That was 3 months of general bummerville, I know the feeling.

I can handle all sorts of problems and do on a daily basis if I feel ok but if you don't feel good, then everything sucks!

Glad you're back to fighting fit Tom. I certainly know how you feel. After my gallbladder op I felt so much better.

In a van, down by the river...
Glad to hear it! Good health is NOTHING to take for granted, obviously!

Y'know, I have been feeling pretty good these days, too, but I think it has to do with some personal issues that I have made some progress with rather than health concerns...I am feeling a lot more confident at work, at home and with my music. I've been playing a lot of six-string piccolo bass these days, (actually got a call to join a band playing the things!) and I'm really happy with the progress I'm making. I've been playing bass so long that my learning curve is a lot more flat, but geetar is like a new revelation everday! (I fully realize, however, that I bass will always be my strength and my love!)

Damn, it sure feels good, though, especially for us "no-longer 20 or 30 year olds".

OK. As you were.

after having your gal out do you have to take medication for the rest of your life?

As far as I know, no. The doctor mentioned I may have to change my diet but that only affects a small percentage of the people who have it taken out. So far, no problems with any food I've eaten so I think I'm OK.

That's how I'm feeling these days. Suddenly everything is falling into place, easier than I expected. I learned more about the fretboard in 30 minutes last night than I have in the past year.

I turn 33 this year and I've been feeling so low that I was not looking forward to 40 much less 50. I've been marveling at the energy some of my older friends have and kept asking myself, "what's wrong with me!?!"

Funny thing is, my PT was explaining to me that acupuncturists do some stuff focused on the gall bladder due to it being a source of Chi. So you're excuse may be valid. :D

Thanks for all the good words. I seriously hope that I can pass on a bit of enthusiasm or energy to whoever needs it. :)

5 coolios for everyone:

PS: Hey Steebo, the date is coming up soon. Was planning on making a trip up there to pick "it" up. You got time to grab some dinner and hang? You pick the restaurant, I'll pick up the tab. Glad the hand is back in action. Ummmm... yeah. :D

Tom. Glad to hear that things are going good at Camp Angry Canine. Your entusiasm about the bass is great, and exciting to see.

I'm astounded how much health matters to your musicianship. I'm still young here but I get something simple like the flu and it takes me completely out of the game. I can only imagine how you felt maddog, glad to hear you are feeling better and playing better.

hmm so i wonder what the damn point of this gal bladder is lol
Sometimes we play 12 bar behind the local poet lauriette. Then she told us she was getting her gall bladder removed. I was worried for her. I knew the surgery was not dangerous but a poet without gall? She acknowledged this and she got back to me as soon as she hit the street afterward. No problemmoe!!! As galling as ever. So, I hear ya. What's it really for anyway??

Gall Bladder:

A pear-shaped organ just below the liver that stores the bile secreted by the liver. During a fatty meal, the gallbladder contracts, delivering the bile through the bile ducts into the intestines to help with digestion. Abnormal composition of bile leads to formation of gallstones, a process termed cholelithiasis. The gallstones cause cholecystitis, inflammation of the gallbladder.

From what the surgeon said, I had quite a severe case of cholecystitis.
