OT..Just passed guitar tech 101.....

just installed the new floyd on my axis and it went really well! i'm not one to tear apart my guitars, but i figured it was time to start!

thanks to all who gave the great advice, it all came in handy!!!

Great Brent - there's a real sense of satisfaction of working on your own gear.

I actually just changed a saddle that needed to be replaced on the gremlin AL this morning myself. I know its not as intricate, but I'm not really adept at work requiring detail and patience, but I'm taking small steps.

Yeah but don't get so cocky at working on guitars that you'll change the gremlin green scratch plate to a black one !!!!!

Man I've thought about doing that. It would be fun. choosing pickups, etc. It would be a heck of a lot easier than this stormtrooper outfit I'm building.

When I first bought my Emerald Green EVH- I was taking off the tremolo(don't ask me why) to clean I think- one of the springs shot off and chipped off a piece of wood and paint the size of 1/4 a dime-ouch- dumb de dumb dumb !!!!
I was lucky the chip was mostly under the tremolo cavity cover-

i must have got a bad casting because all of the fine tuners turned hard and the low E was stripped out completely.
