Is today Wednesday? Ah, who cares. A new amp came in the mail today.

Scored a Euphonic Audio iAmp 500. Lets see. Lots to say about this little amp. 500 watts at 4 or even 2 ohms. Not the loudest 500 watts, but perhaps the most interesting 500 watts Ive heard in a while.

This amp has NO TONE of its own. Well, very, very minimal if any. It simply is designed and does a great job at amplifying your bass, without adding any flavor or color of its own. It does a fine job. Combined with the Bergantino cab, its a force, an awesome force. That combo sounds hi-fi, but not what I used to think of when I heard hi-fi. I have PLENTY of butt kickin, hard thumpin low end, but I hear a dynamic, and presence Ive yet to feel from my StingRay 5. VERY responsive to left and right hand dynamics. Smooth from low to high, with every note ringing with a natural flavor, that doesnt feel forced.

This combo, made me giddy. Stupid giddy. My girlfriend was over when the iAmp got here, and she listened as I started tinkering around. She was very impressed, and said it brought out the best in the StingRay 5. I just laughed in utter joy as I played to some music. I couldnt help myself. Just astounding with the Bergantino cab.

Really, the iAmp never got far away from flat, and neither did my bass. It just sounds like a killer CD bass tone. Thats the best way I can describe it.

So, thats all for now. Thanks for looking.

Glad you like it Travis.

There are way to many knobs, sliders and buttony type things. I don't know what I would do with them.

Did the head come with any rack ears?

Yeah Mark. It did. Also came in a THICK padded EA gig bag. I think Ill just put the gig bag in the road case with the Berg for gigs. I have extra foam, and can make a little cubbyhole for it.

Paul, there are TONS of knobs and buttons. Funny enough, I pushed about 2 buttons, and barely turned 1 knob before my tweaking was done.:D

Shut up! All of you just shut up!

(Translation: I am hot for one of these and I don't have any money so stop making me shake and quiver.)

Nice amp!

+1. I was tempted last night at GC to pick up a GK head. I am now even more tempted. My credit card isn't that heavy right now... I've got a little while before closing...

I now realize why I don't spend time in music stores. Very nice rig. I've talked myself into a Berg when I can afford it but I think I'm gonna do a GK head.

My bad Mark, this one KILLS too.:D

Heck, they all kill. In their own little way. Its cool to me that there is so much GREAT sounding gear out there. You almost cant go wrong.

As far as MY tone. Well this setup has proven to best fit me out of all the stuff Ive tried. I am however, almost scared for those MarkBass heads to hit shelves. I think one of those with the Berg could set a new standard.

Dude! I had my hand on one. I looked at the price tag. I felt the price wasn't too bad and I could talk it down a little. And I've got the cash in my checking account. And I am thinking all this to myself as I type this. But I keep thinking about that truck title in my grubby mitts.

Travis, you are not as silly as Randy but just as evil. I'll have to see how this month goes. I got an opportunity for OT at work. Maybe I should take advantage of it.

Yes, they have some unbelievable prices but my fingers are in my ears and I am singing LALALALALALALA very loudly right now.

Seriously, thanks for reminding me. You and Travis have posted that link before. Would make it easier to buy at the price they qouted me. A 700RB-II might just be in the works sooner than I wanna admit.

Next problem will be coming up with the dough for a Berg. I can see it now, I get a GK head in and get to stare at it for hours on end.

First and foremost, Berg + EA = good stuff. Congrats!

I use an iAMP 800 with a Berg HT310 and like it a lot. Admittedly, I use the 800 mostly with an Acme B2 though. Both fairly "flat" sounding cabs, and the 800 is pretty much the same. A few times I've used both cabs with the 800 (love that 2 ohm capability!), and heewack!

It's you, just louder.

:D

And for a while I used a GK 1001 (series 1) with the Berg cab (for those interested). There was certainly nothing wrong with that combo either...

Joshua, EA+Berg=:D for sure. I really, really dig this setup.

Gary, it weighs 13 pounds. Funny, the whole setup, head and cab weighs less than the SVT by about 12 pounds. They BOTH fit in my Calzone road case to boot. That case has wheels, and this setup is MUCH easier on my back.
