THIRTEEN POUNDS?

Anyone need a 1200 watt Sunn head?

13 pounds indeed Jacko. If you need the wattage, the 800 watt version is only 19 pounds. The bag for mine makes it s sweet haul (pics coming). Not to mention that the 500 will go down to 2 ohms, and the 800 will too. The 800 ups to 1,000 watts when pushed in 2 ohm loads.

Im telling you. Hearing just the StingRay 5s tone amplified with no coloration is making me so giddy. The best low B sound Ive heard from my StingRay 5 is through this rig. Im STOKED.

I think I mis-understood your opening post:

"This amp has NO TONE of its own. Well, very, very minimal if any. It simply is designed and does a great job at amplifying your bass, without adding any flavor or color of its own. It does a fine job."

It got my interest up, so I went to the EA website, there I found this information about the amp:

"Applications: Acoustic instruments, bass and keyboards.
Inputs: ¼” Active and Passive jacks with gain LED level indicators, Mini Stereo In with volume (CD, tape)
Controls: Input Volume, EQ In/Out, Master Volume, DI Level, Speaker On/Off, DI Output On/Off
EQ: Lo, Lo-Mid, Hi-Mid, and Hi: all with boost/cut and variable frequency controls (Lo-Mid and Hi-Mid have Half/Full Octave Q switch)
EQ Presets: Deep, Contour 1, Contour 2, and Bright
Effects Loop: Series and Parallel Post EQ with independent level controls
Outputs: Two Speakon speaker, 1/4" Stereo Headphone, 1/4" Tuner/Line Out, XLR balanced DI
Frequency Response: 20Hz to 20kHz ± 3dB
Line Voltage: Selector switch located on rear panel
Power Output: 350 watts @ 8 ohms, 500watts @ 4 Ohms & 2 Ohms. 800watts peak "

Maybe I'm wrong, but it sounds like this amp can do a fine job of shaping the tone to just about any way you want it. Lots of EQ & Tone controls.

I'm pretty sure that Travis just meant the EA is very transparent and doesn't color the tone of his bass at all. You can cut/boost frequencies without coloring the tone....

Okay, you guys are really causing trouble here.

I think I just emailed Steve and told him I want the iAmp 800 head.

Mum's the word.

Well, and it's also a flower, but let's not open that can of worms.

I just read some good things about the Markbass cabs BP. You can bet Im going to try a MarkBass amp when the hit shelves here in the states.

Jacko. I think the iAmp would work wonders with Bongos. :D

Spot on Randy. While you can change the frequency of the tone(s), it still sounds uncolored. Some who dig a certain color from an amp, may not dig the iAmp. However, if you wanna hear your bass, and your hands/technique, the EA does a heck of a job delivering the goods.

I'm not so sure I want to hear my technique.

Let's hope the Bongos sound good enough to hide my flaws!

iAmp 800 head is ordered!

And BP, I can't wait to try out the Markbass cabs. Someday...

Dang Tom. That didn't take long. :p

I'm wondering how this amp is too. Let me know if you're free Sunday, Travis.

Had some help from friends and I am glad it didn't take long. Not all over yet but...

Hey Tom, i'll take my 1001 over to Travis' place and try it out with that Bergy.

Maybe that'll convince you to get one. :D

I'm already convinced but would love to hear your thoughts. Just trying to figure how to eat my cake and have it too. Might have to put my HH on the market to make it work but it'd be worth it.

Travis, how does the EA compare to GK on price?

Tom, the EA is a bit more pricey. The iAmp 500 new is more than a 1001RB-II.

Honestly, I think the GK head would be a great match with the Berg cabs. The iAmp just does it for me though.

Ill get Andrew over here, and do some tinkerin.

Sunday should work out Andrew.
