We - the universe - lost maybe the best American author since Mark Twain.

Kurt Vonnegut died yesterday.

And so it goes.

Sad commentary about what people consider important news, eh?

the media is no longer useful, IMHO. I dont care who Anna's baby is! I want to know whats going on that actually matters. Unfortunately, you dont get that from any mainstram news channel anymore.

RIP KV.

I remember when he came to talk at my high school in 1997. One of the coolest things ever!

I just saw that this morning. I've been meaning to go back to his old stuff for a while -- I read them all many years ago, and his sardonic worldview had a big influence on me during my formative years. RIP Kurt.

I drove to Emory when I was in high school (first time driving into Atlanta from the 'burbs by myself at 16) to see a lecture. And, he also came to UGA while I was there, too. I was lucky enough to meet him each time.

I just put took all of my Vonnegut books out of a box two days ago and put them on the new bookcase in my mancave. It might be time to re-read Galapagos or The Sirens of Titan. Hell, any of them are worth reading again.

Thanks for corrupting my smooth young brain, Kurt. I appreciate it.
