I heard Monster Cable sued Con Edison over these cables being too similar in appearance .....

I bought a monster cable once because a buddy of mine at Radio Shack got it to me for $15.

I used it once and found it rather underwhelming.

At that point I went back to my $10 conquest cable I've abused for 12 years.

Woah! Just read the letter. That was freakin awesome!! Here's my favorite quote:

"Indeed, the less my customers think my products resemble Monster's, in form or in function, the better"

I tend to use Ernie Ball cables. I've really grown to love that right angle plug, too. At first, it seemed weird to me, but now it makes perfect sense.

God bless Derek Brooks!

Bayou Audio all the way. Or make your own. It's fairly simple if you can solder and even now there are solder-less connectors (crimp style, like car audio type).

Wow indeed! What a great read. I commend Blue Jean Cables for their highly detail oriented reply. It will be interesting to see what happens with this.

"Not only am I unintimidated by litigation; I sometimes rather miss it". lol ... that's great.

Yeah as a journalist I love the openning paragraph. Neat snappy and right to the heart.....then the twist. Its almost as funny as when the judge summed up in the Mills Macartney trial and said Ms Mills was "less than candid on the stand"....wonder what he meant.....

Good for Blue Jeans! I loved this letter.

It is great to see a complete "F.U." from the small guy to the big guy. IMO the small guy is 100% right (just IMO) which makes it even more compelling.

I have worked for a litigeous company in the past (GE) and they would fight something like this tooth and nail and win as they had 100+ lawyers on staff that had nothing better to do.

I am assuming Monster isn't as organized.

P.S. The Bermuda comment was great.:D
