At the risk of sounding like your father, why is a 12" screen too small? Won't you be using it to type papers and do research on the Internet? Kudos on venturing into the Mac world. Have you messed around with Garage Band?

Wish I could help you. But I need a G5 or at least a Mac Mini with the intel processor. A 19" screen is as small as I will go.

Good luck!

First off Smart guy for Buying a Mac. I do alot of design work and a Mac is the only way
Second Im also a PC user and for our PC friends The iMac 20inch duo core intel Smokes my 3.2Ghz PC, 3 times as fast and guess what. Yes, it never goes down like a PC does every 3 days.

Last but not least, No One will buy that thing Unless you have a Stingray Picture as your desktop. DJ

if you want it to sell, lower your price.

12in power books were never 2300 bucks.

and I got my 15" macbook pro for 2000 bucks.

yeah.

I believe when you look at the amount of RAM and size of Hard Drive he has you would find that Powerbook cost what he said it did and is worth what he wants for it.

Your pricing indicates 256MB of RAM 60 GB HD.

IMHO

eh doesnt matter.

the new macbooks w/ a 13.1 inch screen and a way better processor are about 1/2 the price.

never buy RAM from Apple either... they rip u off: (crucial dot com) baby

fair enough ... but still i think the price is high.

personally i think hard-drive size is kinda/sort meaningless since you can get a 200-300GB external for $200ish. and GB RAM is a pretty cheap aftermarket upgrade.

im not trying to be mean but honestly i think your price is high.... by about $1,000

on the bright side... i really dont see why you can't just use that machine? i think the $ you'd lose by selling it would be way higher than the cost of a flat panel monitor & keyboard to add onto it. ya, i know you lose portability but personally when im doing "serious" work on my laptop (code, writing docs etc) im at home... when im dragging it around w/ me i only do a few things here n there.

actually i wrote all of the code for http://www.theawesomelist.com/ on a 12 inch iBook so id imagine the powerbook could do everything you'd need it to

they don't make a macbook pro with 256mb ram or a 60gb hd.

the macbook pro has faster ram and FSB than the powerbook, plus it has built in isight, a way faster processor, and a slightly larger screen.

the powerbook though has a dual layer super drive, while the std macbook pro comes with a basic super drive. plus the powerbook doesn't get all crazy hot.

I've got both. The macbook pro far surpasses the powerbook, but there's not that much 3rd party support for the intel systems YET.

both are exceptional machines, and this 12" powerbook is a prime example of a fine computer. But the rough side is that it is now obsolete, just like my 15" powerbook, and my mac mini, and my dual processor G5. there's newer faster versions of everything now that are accessible and relatively affordable. It's unfortunate, but true.

I would say being 2 months old, still under apple care, that you can sell it on ebay for 1300-1400. MAYBE... people still want the power books, so they are retaining a certain amount of value.

Just get a 19" screen to go along with the 12" PB. You'll appreciate having that small laptop to carry around campus.

I just picked up a refurb 12" PB from the Apple store.

Okay let me try it this way. I am a mac certed repair man. I am using a power book that cost several hundred dollars more than what the kid spoke of.

I am willinglto bet any of you that I have bought more Macs of any configuration than you have. It is my business.

This is the arguement of EB over SX as far as I am concerned.

The only thing that matters at all to me on this forum is that you all understand that I am an honest man even if not popular.

I did not tell anyone to buy the power book the kid had. I just said don't lowball the kid.

It is tough growing up in this world and you guys are low balling a kid that told you the truth about what he paid and what he wanted.

If you don't understand this ping Microsoft.

12" is too small because you can only have on screen open at a time which if fine with me id rather keep my 12" but ill be able to work at a faster pace with a 17" .. and im going to school for music so im going to need more desktop space my school even recommends 17" and yes the price of this powerbook was 2300 I paid for it out of my pocket to i know... And who ever told me to lower my price i said it was negotiable. The computer has over 2000 worth of programs on it... so if you want it for cheaper i will be deleting all the programs on it :) and thanks tkarter.

first off the price is low speically for the software thats on it.... second i cant carry a flat panel moniter too school and use that next to my laptop thats too much crap and a keyboard would be a waste of money and school isnt a few things here and there... and school is where ill be doing most of my work which is why it is open 24/7 .... 2nd i didnt come here to be told my price was too high.. or that the computer i have is fine... i asked you if you wanted to buy something... yes or no question..... yes you reply no you go to another ... topic... simple ass that i dont mean to sound like a dick about it but.... i laid it down and you guys came back with all kinda crap... I know what i need i know what my school requires and i know what i paid for my computer and the programs on it im not trying to jew anybody i just want some money so i dont have to pay 3000 dollars out of my pocket.... id rather keep my 12" and get the 17" Mac book pro but.... buying a new computer 2 months after you just got one is kinda stupid.

Thank me not. But listen.

10 screens fit that 12 inch just like they do the 17 inch.

My favorite computer to this day is my 12 inch iBook.

What school is telling you your computer is not good before going there?

Schools are for teaching. Buying the suggested crayons is bull**** this time of year. School starts in the fall.

There is no difference in what a computer tells you or teaches you no matter how big the screen is.

Hang onto your Powerbook you will pay someone less to keep it going than anyone that has the Macbook pro.
