Well folks, I just shelled out close to $10,000.......

And on Friday morning at 11:30, I begin the first steps toward a complete new set of teeth, a rebuilt lower jaw, and a partially rebuilt maxilla (upper jaw).........

Not to mention muscle repairs to my lower lip.... :(

I am bloody terrified!!

Any words of encouragement would be appreciated. :)

All the best,

Ritchie

I'm facing that and more Ritchie....enjoy the opiates and get it done. I put mine off two months ago due to Pop's cancer surgery but now I'm starting it in December. Ugggh!

Hang in there Ritchie. I assume this is something you need to do versus want to do, so just think about how great the end result will be. The finish line is a long way off in a marathon, but the only way to get there is be positive and go one step at a time. There's a lot of medical stuff that people (including children) have to endure that are likely far worse. Try to think of it as a short-term thing that will bring a lifetime of benefit! Know that you have a lot of people - even someone like me you don't even know - in your corner!

Oh man. I'd rather....well, let's not go there. My fear of dentists is legendary around here.

I admire your courage. All the best!

Ritchie...I have been there and more so. I am still going through more dental processes. Once things are complete, you will be happier for it. It is scary I guess, but, after the first visit you will be more relaxed as you go back. Now, it is a walk in the park for me.

Moral support BIG time from the Koogster!

Hey man -- hang in there.

It is a rough deal, although once they start pumping the gas/drugs, the time in the chair seems shorter. If they are going to keep you awake, take an iPod or something so you you can zone out and isolate yourself as best as possible from what is going on.

I could give you a few macho pain homilies we used when I was in the army, but not sure they would be much good...

And whatever you do, follow the post-op instructions.

God bless, and hang loose.

I've got some dental work to be done but NOTHING like what you're looking at bro. Sorry I didn't get to meet you last weekend. You'll feel better after it's done I hope.

IT just seems like this is the stuff as we not so gracefully enter the back nine of life. Just think you will have to beat the chicks off with a stick!

Nice line BP. My wife has over 10 year dental experience and when I asked her to explain this thread it horrified me. My thoughts are with you as are everyone here. Think of the positives and remember your extended family is here for support...

Plastic teeth don't bother me none. Beats the crap out of having a toothache.

Just relax and get it done.
