I hear the heads blowup alot... and I think they are way over priced 1300 for a 6x10? Ill go with ampeg 8x10 for 999... other than that... markbass amps are freaking amazing.. the weight everything.

...here we go.

I've heard more talk here than anywhere about Markbass heads and I've never heard anything about them blowing up. Where did you hear that?

Aside from the light weight IMO being worth the extra price, have you ever heard the difference between the Ampeg cab and the Markbass cab?

I wish my local GC or some online store would start selling these. I really have a hunch to buy one of those 12" combos or that LMII head. Closest one is like 3 hours away

Michiganders, MarkBass in-stock in Roseville. Just a few things. One head--didn't see what. The 2x10 combo. I think a 1 x 15 cab. 1x 12 combo.

To be real, you just about never see anyone playing 20yr old solid state amps anyway. If that were the case, GK 400/800RB's and Peavy MKIV's would be on stages everywhere. SS amps always change and progress and come out with new models seems every 5-7yrs.

Tube amps are a different story, and do require maintenance, so either way you're spending lots of money.

I must chuckle. I have a GK 400Rb. No numbers following this one, II, II, IV... it's the original Macoy. Heck, I think bought it from Jesus, himself. As of three weeks ago, it cranked out a nice gig, not a cough, not a hick up. Don't bash hardware that you don't own. It will surprise you. :)

I'm about an inch away from selling my Mesa Bass 400 and both my cabs in for a little mark 2 and 2 aguilar gs112s... Just not playing rock at all these days so I don't need the tube vibe.

I don't doubt you for one second...yes I believe you are playing a trouble free GK head. But lets face it, not many people continue gigging 20yr+ old solid state heads. I've had both the 400RB and 800RB, but it's been a while. ;)

Yesterday I was going to go hang out with some friends before a jam session I was going to. I was loading up my gear... I found out that since I put the mesa in a 6 space rack case it can't fit in my trunk anymore... meaning that none of my rig could fit in my trunk, which isn't acceptable. Not to mention I was completely soaked with sweat from moving an awkwardly sized 60 lb rack case.

I loaded it up inside the car and went down to GC. Took a little bit of a beating and traded it in on a LMII. Oh. My. God. Whatever crap I've been babbling about tubes being great, it's over. The LMII has the tone I've been dreaming of and weighs literally 1/10th of my old head. I am absolutely in love. I was running it through just one of my cabs at 8 ohms and it's louder and cleaner than my mesa ever was.

Can't wait to get some new light weight cabs. My back is rejoicing!
