OK, this is pretty cool. One of my bands, the Animators, did an interview for MTV's new Chinese channel, MTV Chi. We scored this pretty much only because one of our frontmen is Asian-American, and they were looking for bands with "ethnic crossover potential". Our music has nothing to do with China or Asia at all, so we were shocked. We got to go to MTV's headquarters in Times Square (I met my bandmates there on my lunch break), we got to use the cool MTV mics that I remember fondly from my childhood, and we were interviewed for about 30 min.

That night they came to our show at this venue called the Living Room and got some footage of us, including me with my SR5 (trying to keep this marginally on-topic for this forum). The result was a VERY brief clip that I'm not above showing to girls in bars on my iPod. Mostly this is memorable because Suchin Pak said our band's name on TV, and it was right after the MTV News soundclip. Totally awesome.

In the name of shameless self-promotion, I present to you this clip:

And if you're interested: Myspace

So whaddya say BP? Endorsement? Have your people PM my people. :D

I like your band's sound man!
But I also am ROFL at how MTV puts you guys on their chinese channel cause your lead singer's last name is wong.

nice one mate....seemed to be a decent SR5 noise as well from what I could hear.

Thanks! If you're interested, you can hear it better on the studio tracks at Myspace - Good To Be Here was done with my SR5 with Bart electronics. Very flat - too flat, actually - always on the lookout for factory original guts!

Sucks that the accordion got more footage than the SR5, though! ;)

Heh, yeah ... we get some looks when we play for an audience that doesn't know our stuff ... "Wait a second, an accordion? Is this going to suck?"

But I also am ROFL at how MTV puts you guys on their chinese channel cause your lead singer's last name is wong.

Yeah, seems a bit arbitrary, doesn't it? I wonder if I can get on MTV Russia or something ... :D

That's pretty cool. Congrats!

I'm amazed you actually have a multi-ethnic band in New York. I've always found NYC to be pretty homogeneous whenever I'm there. ;)

Man, that's got to be REALLY exciting for your band! Cool stuff.

Very cool, and that announcer wasn't too bad, either. ;)

Thanks guys for all the kind words! If any of you are in the New York area at the beginning of February, we have a big gig coming up at Joe's Pub on Feb 3rd. Would love to see some forum faces for the first time ...

You know, it's funny - you can get this channel in the states, but it's part of some all-chinese cable package. Very few English speakers will see this, I think. Great for the press kit though, most definitely. The MTV stuff lends a bit of credibility.

And yeah, she's quite easy on the eyes. :D

I am going to say this and then be shutup.

Your race. Your creed.

Has nothing to do with music.

Prejudice is a taught thing and it is time this world be gone from teaching that. Your gender, race or religious beliefs have nothing to do with music other than influence.

Music is music. It is made by anyone that can play it by hearing. He he the theory guy.

If I am out of line here delete it please.
