Hey guys, some may know, some may not, I recently started my own guitar shop up here in Bellingham.

We've bought into a number of different brands, no EBMM yet (eb, but no mm:( ) not much in for highend right now, but we have some stuff.

Check out the website:

http://www.tweeks.org

and if you feel like buying something, even better. I be broke! :p

also, let me know what you guys think. it's not done, and I'm new to the whole internet storefront shenanigans.

thanks guys!

Joel,

Layout looks good. Nice and simple. Gets the point across and easy to navigate.

So you're doing an internet store front as well as bricks&mortar?

A Bit, can't sell some of the stuff online as per contract. We carry the full line of orange amplifiers, but i can't sell online. I do have a 100 mile radius exclusive dealership though.

I've got a few ampeg rigs right now too.

svt1000, b500d, B1re, svt610AV, bse410, bse115 not as much as i will have, but a decent stock for a startup..

if anyone wants anything, drop me a line, I got rent to pay!

So you guys like the layout. does it give enough information on the gear? obviously there isn't anything up but the guitars yet.

Anyone have any suggestions on what I ought do to the website?

thanks

There's a lot of dead links with no message at all, which could lead visitors into thinking that your out of business, or very slack at keeping your website up-to-date. Even some simple text such as "information will be added next week, come back soon" or "under construction, please visit again" will look a lot more professional than the dead links.

The big opportunity I see for smaller stores like yours is to do a really good job of listing used instruments and gear, for gear whores like us who scour the internet looking for items. You'll never be able to compete against the online stores of the big retailers, but in the used market there's no reason why you can't do as good a job as anybody else. Best of luck with your new business!

I should actually have real working links up and runing tonight. I'm at the shop right now and away from all my interneting tools (dreamweaver, fireworks, etc.)

I'll be getting a whole lot of used vintagey pedals in the very near future so I'll keep you posted.

the used stuff is strange in this state, I have to register with the government and get a pawn license apparently.

Hey, wow, congradulations on your venture, and best wishes.

Way to keep your layout nice and clean. Just three suggestions -

You might want to make the fonts for your main menu slightly bigger and higher contrast.

Also consider making the "guitars" sub menu a horizonal menu on top of the box that displays information, or putting it on the right side of the page. Two vertical text menus side by side can be confusing.

Finally, the appearance of the OLP / Michael Kelly / Schector logos in the guitars sub menu seems a little random. Perhaps you could have a section at the bottom of the page that says "Featured Brands" and have the logos run horizontally across. Oh, and if you do that, don't forget to make the EBMM logo 2x bigger than all the others :D

Hope that helps.

Cheers,

Joel,

I'll keep you in mind. Right now, I'm only in the market for a Roland Juno-D which I plan to pick up next week at my local mom'n'pop shop. Gotta get some better synth sounds happening in the home studio!

Then I'll be back to guitar stuff... I hope.

Looks good, except for the things Aussie mark commented on. Also, the About Us link gives me just black?
On my puny little screen at home (1024x768) almost everything is side scrolling, which is kind of annoying.

Hey Joel! Congrats on getting the store open.

There's a guy that I work with that want to buy a Schecter guitar to start out with. I'll have him contact you if he hasn't pulled the trigger yet.

OK, eveything is side scrolling, I've been told to add more color...

and i didn't manage to get the links up..im bringing the laptop in with me today so I will try and get all things completed..

I built the website on a widescreen mac....i guess that distorts how things appear.

it seems alright on all the computers at work, being standard dimension macs.

i'll look into the size issue and see if i can't resolve that.

BTW the reason for putting the logo's mixed in with the guitar links is that A) it seperates the brands and B) it fills up more space.

thanks guys, and larry, have im email [email protected].
