There was a 7.2 quake off the coast of Jakarta today, causing some high rise buildings to sway, but there doesn't appear to be any major damage or injuries. Just in case you knuckleheads hear it on the news and jump to any conclusions. That said, given the shoddy construction standards around here, I'm very surprised that no buildings fell down.

I hope to god you are taking pictures and documenting all of this stuff. You could write a book.

Keep yourself, the missus and AussieJay safe, Man.

I don't know what it is, Mark, but your (temporary) neck of the woods just doesn't appeal to me for some-odd reason...or reasons.

Glad you and your family are okay!

Atleast nobody can say that life is uninteresting in your household.

Good luck on the next job assignment. Hope it takes you to calmer waters.

Yes, unfortunately the south coast was hit with a small tsunami (well, small compared to the Boxing Day 2004 tsunami), and the media here are reporting at least 80 lives lost. Considering high rise buildings in Jakarta swayed for 2 minutes when the quake hit, I'm surprised there was no obvious damage in the city.

Glad to hear you're okay, Mark!

I found myself worrying about my imaginary friend as I listened to the news this morning. :)

Well, it is - if you think 1000 miles is "very close"

There are plenty of volcanoes on Bali anyway, and the entire Indonesian archipelago is on a highly active earthquake zone, but the same could happen on the west coast of the USA, right? :D
