I read the other thread about unsung bass heroes and I don't believe I saw mention of Peter Cetera. I've noticed that his name rarely comes up when discussing great or unsung bass heroes. It's as though he didn't exist. Some of his bass work in the early Chicago days was outstanding. I just don't see much mention of him by bass players. I guess his ballad days, along with Chicago's shift in music, probably have a lot to do with his image. Perhaps he thought of more as a singer than a player. That's a shame, because he did some great work on the Chicago I, II, III, V & VI albums.

I thought of Peter Cetera while reading that thread, however, I did not consider him "unsung" so I chose not to include him; I thought that he was too well-known. I'm a big fan of his playing and his singing.

Talking about having no doubt... Tony Kanal of No Doubt played lots of awesome bass lines, and AFAIK sometimes even on a 'Ray.
