Prayers and thoughts from down here. With friends like you, regardless the outcome, the journey for him and his family will be far less troublesome.....

It is a timely reminder to all of us (as B.P. has said) to make the most of every day and stay positive about the future. You often can't control the circumstances in your life but you can certainly control your response. How we respond not only influences the outcome for us, but significantly influences those around us.

WOOO HOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!

Charles' wife called me this morning after he got out of surgery to say he's going to be okay, that they found more lymph nodes in his neck than anticipated (including some wrapped around his carotid artery) and that he's probably going to need radiation treatments (which is 30 days of hell that you really don't want to know about).

But he's alive and is going to be with us for a long, long time.

That was a huge relief. The whole voice thing is so minor compared to survival that it wasn't even mentioned.

Then, tonight, two minutes ago, the phone rang.

It was Charles HIMSELF calling me! And he sounds GREAT! Only 12 hours or so after coming out of the operating room.

I was floored. I could NOT believe it.

I was expecting a box of gravel for his voice. But it's him. A bit scratchy, but him.

I'm over the moon right now.

Thank you all, for the thoughts and best wishes!!! Charles was really touched when I pointed him to this thread.

Positive waves, Moriarity, positive waves.

vancouver based vibes

adouglas,
it's tough hearing that a Forumite is having a tough time, but I for one have felt and do appreciate the benefit of positive EBMM forum vibes,:) and I send a heapin' helpin' of them off to you and Charles immediately and ongoing:cool::), so, whatever you all do, just don't give up the fight, and always keep up the hope that the doctors will remain positive, cuz everybody knows that doctors treat symptoms and only God heals !!!:)
so, positive vibes and prayers are in the air for you and Charles and his family:)
All The Bass,
/PL:)

Late in seeing this thread, Andrew...but what a wonderful outcome.
Glad he found (and was able to be treated by) such a noted cancer center.
Here's to many more years of you both playing and singing together...and enjoying your friendship.

Hope this isn't too nosy... Is the radiation going to be directed at his thyroid or somewhere else?

Somehow I missed this one until just now, adouglas. I'm glad Charles' surgery went so well. I know how frightening that is. May peace be with your friend, and with you. Please keep us posted on his recovery and progress.
