Okay, I'm fooling with some digital video and thinking I want to post a video on the 'net, right?

I need some expert help.

What format? What kind of quality? How big should a three minute video with audio be?

Hep mah!

i dunno about the size dude ... check out some porn sites; they should have a few examples to follow :)

ok but on a serious note ... if you're just going to link 'em with a standard click here to see a video it really doesn't matter what format ... the user's browser will know what to do with it based on mime types and/or file extensions. Id suggest "vanilla" MPEG just because every OS and browser know how to deal with those. WMV's can get annoying to deal with on Mac and Linux machines.

the pixel size of the video is pretty much ideal Jack ... but 40 MB for a 3 minute click is kindof a lot :( so streaming the file is kinda choppy and im on a t1

... see if you can lower file size. i dont know what size (MB) is ideal but check out some movie trailer online and youll get an idea for what people normally do.

you'll lose some quality tho. The choice is gonna be smaller pixel size but nice n clear ... or larger pixel size but not so clear ...

I hope it's not as freakin' HOT as when you saw it live!

I gotta shrink that file so if the link doesn't work in a bit, it's because I've gone back into the laboratory with Igor.

its showing up as 16*9 for me, even though it is quite apparent that is not its proper format. Either that or you were much fatter that day then I remembered :p

What's that thing around Jack's neck? :D

Very nice otherwise. Got the 16x9 aspect ratio as well but didn't mind too terribly.

What's the tune being performed?

I took the original down, Jon, as it was HUGE.

Try this link .

For those of you unfamiliar with Buck Owens, it's "Tiger By The Tail".

im at home now (cable modem) and the WMV is playing perfect Jack .... its streaming and there's the hiccups.

ps im on a Mac too so you should have a martini for a job well done ... sounds like Jon's had a few :)

Jack,

I'm running on DSL at home. The movie downloaded in about 4 seconds and played without a hitch. I think you've hit the ideal speed vs. quality settings. Sounds good, too! I have to grab some video from my gigs last week and get some clips up, too!

Hey! It worked! Sumbish! Jack I am really impressed with your playing. You ROCK. I would love to hear the same song if the guitar players would switch guitars. The lead solo would have killed on the Tele. But thats just me. Do you have a flight booked yet? Enlighten a brutha

I do not rock! Don't say that! I am Caveman! I do not even understand diminished 12ths!

No, well, thank you. It isn't exactly a Dixie Dregs tune, but it IS fun.

I will also admit that the Tele is not only mine, I BUILT IT IN MY GARAGE. Yup, nitro finish and all, which I will never, ever do again. It also cost me considerably less money than the Gretsch cost Chris, the other guitar player.

(With his current look, the Tele playin' Brian constantly refers to him as "The Passion Of The Chris".)

Anyhoo, yes, flight is booked and if I recall correctly, Mr Oldtoe Ben and I will be arriving Friday around 3 pm.

Holy cow Jack. Was only familiar with Buck Owens during his Hee-Haw days. I looked him up on allmusic.com and got a history lesson in honky-tonk country. I knew the "Act Naturally" was a remake by the Beatles but didn't realize Owens wrote the original. Gonna look for some of his stuff next time I'm in the record store. Thanks Jack.

BTW, was he Pickin' or Grinnin'? :D
