I'm sorry, but I just don't get that Zayra girl. She massacred Bring Me to Life...But I agree...a lot of the women really have it over the guys.

Nah, massacred was what that one dude did to "Roxanne"...if there was ever a need for a red light, that was the time to use it!

Oh, man...You were right with that! Phew! And they sure didn't spare him in the critique either. I believe "sucks" was used.

Gilby pulled out the "suck" word on him. I actually think Dave badmouthed him too

Yeah, Dave's words were (i.e.) "...this song really showcases your limited range."

My wife and I were still laughing our asses off at that one when Gilby told him it sucked...then it was all over! :D

I thought about 6 of the women really had great voices. And 2 or 3 of the guys.

I was wondering about a couple of things though...

1. Does songwriting ability matter at all in choosing the singer?
2. Does the vocalist share equally?
3. Those songs come off like they've been rehearsed with the band quite a bit. When does that take place?

I thought the production values were really good and the band is terrific.

It depends on the band. I think some of this isn't "reality" TV. Last season, I know that JD had help with "Pretty Vegas" and its credits show him as the last person on the writing credit. I imagine the vocalist doesn't share equally at all. They're given some type of contract, but are beholden to the band. The band itself rehearses tons of tunes, and I think the singers can pick from a list. There's an article in Bass Player mag from a month or two back that profiles Newstead and the house bassist.

It just doesn't seem that it's the first time the singer has sung the tune with the band. I get that the band rehearses it, but there must be a singer rehearsal too.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

There are singer rehersals. My understanding is (and it might be totally wrong) is that each day each singer gets a certain amount of time to work with the band on their assigned song and their "chosen" song (incase they bomb). This is when they work out arangements, keys, etc. As the show progresses, they get more and more time with the band AND that the band talks with the"super group" about what they have seen. Got this 3rd hand but from a pretty reliable source that was involved with INXS.

^ cool. Thanks for that.

I was trying to figure out if the competitors who place in the bottom 3 actually already knew they did, then rehearsed their music with the band, then feigned surprise/relief when results are read on TV that they placed in the bottom.

I thought Jill (the 4'11" cutie) who belted out Joplin was fantastic, but I'm not sure she'll be right for the band.
