I wanted to go to that so bad, GC natick right? I had "Tech Week" and I'm the sound engineer for the "school play" and you can't miss a tech week rehearsal. Bummer. Did he sign anything?

Foggy man sorry, that had a no pics or video policy.

Yup Pittman, it was. I skipped that part I had to get home to let my brother go because he was watching my kids.

He played so good stuff and the place was packed!!! I didn't get the chance to check anything out because it was wall to wall people, but I did get his new CD with a DVD inside, GC exclusive.

Great that you got to see him in that kind of environment - I'd love to meet him and have a few beers with him and talk guitars!!
I saw him many years ago - at the time of surfing with the Alien - awesome!!

There was a huge crowd and my buddy and I passed on the meet and greet because of the number of people and the fact that I had to get home to take care of my kids.

Norm, good to hear from you man. Skip work man, that's what we have PTO for, ;)

Luckly for me the GC is only 15 minutes from work and my buddy got there earlier than I did, I got stuck and couldn't get out of work when I had really wanted to.

If you can make these shows, go completely worth it and he was wicked nice and pleasant and was really into it.

Satch is the melodic master.

... not to mention a tone master!!!!

i had the pleasure of meeting him a few years ago. he is such a good guy and very approachable. had a few laughs and fired a few questions to him about some of his standout tones etc. great guy.

he's the reason i started playing the 6 stringed cricket bat!!

Wow, that's awesome. I wonder if he'll be coming to St. Louis.

He's one of those guys who you really have to see live. I mean he sounds awesome on cd but just watching him play is amazing.

Sounds like a good time Glenn, but by the title I thought you saw Joe just wandering around the store...because that actually happened to me last year.

I met Joe at Manny's Music in NYC during the G3 tour last year. I was just doing a lunchtime browse and apparently so was he. I noticed him walking around (if your signature look is a black fishing hat pulled down low and wrap around mirrored glasses, you shouldn't use that as your incognito look as well). He went into the accoustic room and sat in a back corner, pulled a guitar down and began to noodle. I casually strolled in the other corner, hoping for a lunchtime concert, but it was not to be, he played no more than a minute or two.

As he started walking around the rest of the store I got up the nerve and said hello, that I was a fan and complimented his signature guitar which I literally had been noodling on just a few moments before he walked in. He said the neck was based on a 50's strat. Then I said I was a Music Man guy and asked him to say hi to John later that night. He chuckled and I left. Maybe a minute of total interaction, didn't want to bother him (too much) but he was very pleasant to talk to.

I love the necks on the JP series. They feel pretty darn good.

About the GC thing, did he sample is Satchurator pedal? How was it?

Michael, I remembered you telling that story when I was there yesterday. You gonna go to the one today?

Not sure he had a couple of pedals going and talked about a LE Ibby they are coming out with, but I won't get into that here. :)

Won't be going down there tonight as I have other plans. Also, anything like this in NYC is a zoo - just way too much population base for an upclose and personal experience. If he was out further in suburbia it might be a little better - more along the size crowd that we saw at Pete's for JP. I did see a Michael Angelo Battio clinic near my house that was a good experience you could actually relate to.

There is a video on youtube of him playing someone's cheap fender strat at the g's house in SF. He just saw Satch walking in the city and asked him to play a couple of song's at his house on his strat, and he did. The kid couldn't believe that Satch was playing his guitar right in his own home. Thats unreal! He really must be a genuinely laid back, good person

Where the heck did they set him up? In the lobby outside the store?

Lou, no they had is making an "S" out in the lobby to get into the store. The Natick store is actually one of the larger GC's in the area. Over in front of what use to be the private room in the electrical section. They basically cleared out all of the equipment and did 2 sections of chairs, and they have this mini stage for him.

We didn't get there early enough to get a seat, we were standing off to the left in for of the keyboard and drum rooms.

I have to go there tomorrow because they charged me for 2 CD. It'll be interesting to see if they still have all the stuff that they had yesterday?
