OT: Some tunes I played bass on.

The clips might be a tad overproduced but I think it gives a nice idea what the bongo sounds like in a country/blues/rock setting.

We just got in a ButterCream Sterling which I still have to snap pics of - it nicely compliments the Rad Red BongoHS, and the Envy Green SR4 and Envy Green SR5 on the wall

Very nice tunes - and man she has a nice voice - if she looks half as nice as she sounds you must have a hard time concentrating on the music

Great stuff. The bass playing made me smile, especially in the choruses of "Crawl Back to You", for some reason. I like when the bass makes me smile. I like when the bass tastefully moves a song along - like it does in all three of them. OK -enough sunshine for you for one day.

I was going to say also that the male in me couldn't help noticing that the singer sounds really hot also. Seems that's all been covered. I love backing up hot singers. I play just about every wednesday night in a french restaurant with a pretty hot women. We're cramped into a 4 foot spot, I'm sitting right behind her, she's standing, and her butt is in my face for a good hour and a half. On certain days it could be very distracting.

Hey - I asked this before but never got any response. Are there any women at this forum? I don't believe I've seen any since I started posting here?

Thanks guys for the nice coments. I enjoyed recording the songs and also liked playing the songs live, but the last gig I played with them, the guitarists were out of tune almost the whole set. It was pretty much the last straw for me, I decided I was far too busy with other musical projects(Thank God) to put all that hard work into a band that couldn't stay in tune.

Life goes on...

For anyone curious- I recorded the Bongo through a miced Ampeg Rocketbass 100BR combo amp and went into a direct box at the same time. It let us mix the 2 and gave a nice punchy sound while still gettings the mids and highs in there.

One of the things I told Andrew last night when he sent me the clips was that I was very impressed with how full the bass sounded, and how much high snap it had at the same time. Not percussive a la korn, and not mud, but just right with the perfect amount of "bite"

Clip of the SR5

While we're posting clips, I just got the final mix of one of the tracks from our band's upcoming CD. The bass is my blue dawn SR5.

A couple things about the recording:

We all actually record separately at home, and then mix in the studio.

My bass is literally just going into my Powerbook using Garageband. No extra processing is done at all. I don't even use a direct box most of the time...just a monster adapter cable to go into a mini jack. In this case, I may have used a SansAmp Bass DI, but probably didn't. I just don't remember.

This particular tune was a bit of a challenge, because I did the part with a click and no drum track from memory. We were on a deadline, and I couldn't get the drum track to play to, so the part is a bit stiffer than I'd usually play it, because I wasn't sure where the drummer would be throwing accents. So literally I played the part with the main keys track and a click.

PS...The whole CD doesn't sound like Steely Dan, but this tune kind of begged to go that way.

I'd have that bass a bit further "up" in the mix, though!
