Sorry, I have to vent.

Please dont hate me.

Long story short, a musician I know, and trusted has frustrated me a bit. When I was having a hard time after my band split and Dads heart attack, I entertained a serious break from music. I really thought about it. After a few random conversations with some other musicians, Im upset, and honestly hurt. It appears that one of the guys telling me to "stick with it" and "dont give up on playing" was using my situation to try and get some of the dates Ive been working out. Even after KNOWING that I decided not to give up on music, hes telling some people that "he thinks Im not playing anymore". So they will book him.

Im doing my best not to be mad, but I expected more from a bassist brother. I could never feel good about playing a gig I lied my way into.

Travis ~ unless I've read your rant wrong, it sounds like this guy is trying to screw you over for his own gain.

I'd tell him to F.O.!

Well, just to play Devil's Advocate, it could be that he actually does think you stopped playing. I mean, you did talk to him about it. Maybe he heard from someone else that you stopped.

I would just call the guy and tell him that he has his information wrong and that you appreciate the advice he gave you when you were actually considering it. Simply tell him, "I'd appreciate if you'd let the people know the real deal if you've told them I stopped. And, let me know if you ever need a sub."

If he was acting in his own interest, he'll feel like a d!ck. And, if he doesn't feel like a d!ck, then he wasn't worth getting upset about in the first place.

Considering the dark time you went through, I wouldn't let this bring you back down.

Well sadly, hes known the whole time exactly where Im at. Ive talked to him throughout the whole thing, and I am SURE that I made it clear to him that I was going to keep playing. Some of the dates in question were AFTER I told him that I was sure I wasnt going to give up on playing.

Id like to think that he was just confused, but I know that he knew better than what he was telling others. I just dont bleeb he thought it would get back to me.

Well, in that case, I'm fully behind the whole kicking him in the nuts suggestion.

Travis,

Just wave your flag as an active musician and don't shake the bottle. The cream always has a way of finding itself to the top.

Yeah, but he should still kick him in the nuts first, right?

Travis, who is it that we're talking about if you don't mind me asking? I'm not thinking it's Ray or Jose. I'm confused. Haha. Give me a call if you need to vent some more.

Andrew. Not Ray or Jose. Im not going to say names until I talk with him, which will hopefully happen by the end of the week. You know how it is around here. Word gets around, so I hope itll get settled pretty quick.
