I have seen something on The Bay, but I've not done any research and I'm hesitant to drop the hammer on something like that without know what I would be getting!

Mine is on its way from Amazon US to here in Cambridge UK.

It'll be ages before my local music shop has it and I too am very keen to learn Forsaken, In the presence of enemies and the Ministry of Lost Souls.

Just glad I've got my BFR to play it on!

How do you like the 7-string, 73 Nils? And how was the transition from the 6-string?

I tried a Jem Universe 7 string a while back and nearly got RSI from playing it, as the neck was so wide - but then my hands are probably half as big as Steve Vai's...like Lisa Simpson, I have stubby fingers!

Well, to say I love it is an understatement.

It took about 3 days or so to really get used to the neck. It fells flatter because of the extra wood needed, but as I said, it's really easy to adjust. There are some songs I just NEED to play on a 6-String though, like Beyond This Life, which has that really wide picking sweep for the intro, etc. I've never even played another 7-String in my life, so I can't really compare lol. :D Hope that helps.

Damn, guys:eek:. I LOVE Repentance:eek:. Amazing song, especially in 5.1. I don't like Forsaken, though, so there's the trade-off.

Yeah, the "Backing Tracks" on eBay are actually 90% (if not 100%) MIDI backing tracks. Not worth it. You can just use PowerTabs if you want that quality. Try the JP forum for backing tracks. There aren't many, but they're there. :)

73h nils, I think you could play Beyond This Life just fine on a 7. I know what you mean about the wide sweeps, but with some practice it's possible. I've played it on my cheap 7 string a bunch, and it's not perfect, but damn close. Glad to hear you dig the JP7 though!

I need to get that book too :)

Are these the right tunings for the songs :

- ITPOE I & II : E standard
- Forsaken : D standard
- Constant Motion : E standard
- Dark Eternal Night : 7 string
- Repentance : 7 string
- Prophets of War : E standard
- Ministry of lost souls : E standard

I only have a JP6 and a fender squier (which isn't really worth mentioning compared to the JP6 lol :p), no 7 string

Just got the guitar tab and looking through, it seems very well done.

The book is nicely produced, with photos and lyrics and the paper is good quality and the layout is very readable.

Sampling at various points reveals that the tab looks very accurate, which you would expect with direct input from the man himself.

I will be firing up Ministry of Lost Souls as the first challenge tonight!

And as I haven't got a 7 string or a baritone guitar, I'm very glad that most of the songs are accessible with a 6 string or two.

Half done Forsaken solo up to speed, woohoo.

I conquered most of ITPOE back when the album first came out, but I need to refine both unison solo's quite a bit. The tab book is great, I'm having lots of fun.

Wow - sound like you guys have got great chops....My speed is getting there but nowhere near that. I wanna nail the lead at the start of ITPOE.

Well, I've just sorted Repentance and its beautiful solo, Prophets of War and most of Ministry of Lost Souls - just starting on the main solo. The acoustic guitar part is lovely with some wonderful chord choices.

The real challenge for me are the unisons at the start of ITPOE Pt 1. Quavers at 190bpm, 3/4 time and 24 notes per bar - ouch!

I think they should change the way they describe tempos; instead of fast they should have "bloody fast" for faster, "maybe if you give up your day job", and for very fast, "impossible unless your surname is Petrucci"...

Sorry for the late reply - glad you guys are enjoying the book! We're actually just finishing a full score book for the album now too (all instruments) and our book for JP's Suspended Animation CD should finally come out soon too.

I'd be happy to answer any questions about the book or transcribing etc btw if you guys have any...

I got mine through my local GC and I love it. Awesome tab book. I'm in the process of trying to conquer Constant Motion. I've got most of the riffs down, but not all. And I still have to tackle the solo.
