Hey, I took some time over the weekend to play my 20th Anniversary Silhouette (Maple+HardTail) through a THD Flexi-50, and I have to say that I was quite impressed. The knobs had a ton of control over the sound (in a really good way) and the amp sounded really good from volume levels that were really quiet to really loud (best master volume control I have ever heard).

Anyone else have thoughts they would like to share about THD amps or cabs. I'm seriously getting ready to pony up for one of these amps!

hey. i used to run a THD Univalve and 2x12 Cab. that little monster was full of tone. it was only 15watts but calss A watts. a very capable little amp. the cab was great too. it had one vintage voiced speaker and one modern voiced. made for some lush tones.

the only reason i got rid of it was that for my current band, it just didn't have the clean headroom. i tried swapping out the standard power section valve for a 12AY7 and it helped a little but not enough.

still, superb amp.

what sort of music are you playing?

I like to play tones that are mostly clean with a lot of punch, and I like just breaking up tones as well. Thanks for asking.

cool. the THD should suit your needs nicely then.

i can't remember, does the flexi have a hotplate built in? the univalve does and it was a great little feature. especially for recording with.

I have a BiValve.

Great sounding amp, and getting a bunch of tubes gives it great versatility.

Built like a tank, too.

Heya guys.

I literraly just ordered a Flexi 50 like an hour ago! :) I sold my Boogie rig as I am after more of a great vintage overdrive tone that I can drive even harder with pedals etc. I tried the Flexi and it sounded great even at low volumes.

It was a close call between that or a Cornford MK50 but I am a sucker for a great 50 watt plexi sound.

Like Michael Schenker or Al Di Meola :)
