Ironically enough haven't done any real reading in a year or two, but a friend of mine jsut gave me 'Star by Star' by Troy Denning. Its part of the New Jedi Order star wars series. Personally I'm not much of a fan, but I was looking for a read and he had two copies, so it worked out. So far it's quite interesting though, I'm surprised how well they're capturing the way people feel in a relationship.

I've just finished "Ecstasy" from Irvine Welsh, after having read "American Psycho" for the 10th time, and I'm begining to red "Cosmopolis" from Don Dellilo and a book about dark music of any genre.

Status Anxiety - Alain de Botton...no, not about a certain well made British bass manufacturer, but about the whole keeping up with the Jones type thing.

The Long Way Round - Charley Boorman and Ewan MacGregor and their travels from London to New York the hard way. Brilliant and makes you wanna buy a motorbike...

You'd think being a journalism teacher and English major I might read a book now and then, but I believe I spend too much time reading about Bongo this and Bongo that. I did read the Da Vinci Code last summer. Does Bass Player mag count?

Hm, I'm reading Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell at the moment by Susanne Clarke.

My favorite writer nevertheless is Anne Rice. I think I read all books by her by now and have 'em all in my book closet too (even those under the name of Anne Rampling and Rocquelaire).

Some authors mentioned here need my reading in the future, although it is sometimes hard to get the original, English version of books here in Belgium. And I hate reading translated books. Maybe a trip to the open house can be a good opportunity to buy some extra literature...

Cheers, Tom.

I’m half way thru this month’s issue of “Hustler” and I’m also reading the manual to the Nord Electro 2.

Being a retired secret agent I love spy novels, especially Robert Ludlum, he actually gets most of it right.

Well, here at the EB forums there's no accounting for taste. Except for basses that is.

The ideology behind most of Ayn Rand's books is brilliant. If you can't understand that, then I would understand why the book might be lost on someone.

Heh, so just because he didn't like it means he didn't understand it? I can't stand Ayn Rand's work but I understand her ideology perfectly. I just don't happen to agree with it.

Back on topic, Kavalier and Clay by Michael Chabon is a great read, too.

I have subscriptions to Bass Player, Reason, Regulation, and LP News (I also have a few back issues of Skeptic).

The book I'm currently reading is "Good to be King" by Michael Badnarik, and I still need to finish up "Demon Haunted World" by Carl Sagan. I have several other books waiting to be read including the LOTR trilogy, "Ten Things You Can't Say in America" by Larry Elder, "Jaco", "Spirit Catcher" by John Fraim (I know him personally), "All the Trouble in the World" by P.J. O'Rourke, "One Door Away from Heaven" by Dean Koontz, "School Choice" by David Harmer, "Chemicals, Cancer, and Choices" by Peter VanDoren, "Clearing the Air" by Indur Goklany, some Brian Lumley books, and I'm sure there are others...

I've got a stack of books to read — just finding it hard to get to them. I did read "American Gods" by Neil Gaiman. And "The Lords of Discipline" by Pat Conroy. I'll pick up one of the Bass mags every few months if something catches my eye. I do subscribe to Mountain Bike Action magazine. Mountain biking has helped me lose 30 pounds. There's some great trails here in Georgia, and a few of the best ones are within 30 minutes of my house.

Freddy-G, check out Dirt Rag if you get the chance. Awesome mag that always makes me wanna get out and ride.

I'm a fellow mtb-er out here in Tucson, AZ. I spent quite a few years riding in Blacksburg, VA. I miss the trees at times, I hate the heat at times but I definitely don't miss the mud. :D

Hey Tom, it's just beginning to get pretty hot here. I try to get out on the trail by 8am to beat the heat. Dirt Rag is a really good mag, it's just that I got a 2 year sub to MTB Action. My local mtb association (SORBA) has a forum you should check out: www.sorba.org

Peace

I used to read MTB A, at the time when John TOMAC, Tinker JUAREZ and Ned OVEREND where winning races in the NORBA. That's some pretty years away and I'm rarely riding now.
I know Jonzguitar also used to ride MTB.
