'99 Chevy Monte Carlo

Just before they started making the back of the car look cooler, though...:(

All you guys with BMWs are my heroes. I absolutely love the new 2008 M3 design!

Me too, I think. I'm reserving judgment till I see one in the flesh, because I've pretty much hated the BMW designs since they redid the 7-series 5 or 6 years ago, but the recent pics of the concept car looked great. I think the E46 M3 was the best looking car they made (other than the Z8, which doesn't count because I could never afford one).

I do like the looks of the Bongo though. :)

In '03 it was running 13:23 @104.x
http://andrapos.com/340/Dodge104.mpg
I redlit bad on that run

Later on that same day I made some carburetor & tire pressure adjustments and blew up the torque converter when the photographer snapped that pic above.

I have no current timeslips, I haven't been to the track since - I built a stroker engine which took it from a 340 (5.57L) to a 418 (6.85L) and put in a new torque converter & tranny. Based on what other people with almost identical combinations are running, it should run at least low 12s but I wouldn't be surprised if it pulls mid/high 11s with a good tire. Perfect for driving around town :D I'll be hitting the track in the fall.

If I feather the gas pedal around town I get 10-12mpg. On the highway I can sometimes manage 15. Good thing the tank is 16 gallons...

Cool.

My Ford ESP pulled a casual 12.84 @ 114.8 mph back in 1997 (when I was right into cars) on MT street tyres with a 3.23 Diff, 4sp manual trans, no burnout and lots of smoke off the line.
It lives in the shed now (has done for about 8 years, my wife HATES it), and it's only in the last 2 weeks I've actually got her out and started driving it around again. It's really a sheer joy to drive.
But 10mpg (driving like a nanna) is certainly not desirable.

It's set up more as a track/touring car.
(hence the tall diff ratio & high terminal speed).
It'd be interesting to see what she'd do if set up specifically to drag, but I'm way past that phase now.
I just prefer to cruise around in it knowing it will blow just about anything away.
Even better knowing it also goes fast around corners and not just in a straight line.
It's also become quite valuable (rare), so I'm sh*t scared of someone crashing into it.

Hemispherical combustion engine. But most of use just think HEMI=power.

I know our prices are lesser than yours....but it was a point in my financing the new car...I counted what it cost me in gas over 5 weeks in the last month and a half...
$38, $43, $47, $54, $63 to fill an 18 gallon tank...I had to let the truck go after that...Gas was seriously hampering everything.

Larry, it's the combustion chamber that is hemispherical, not the engine ;) --- at least it _was_ on the old Chrysler Firepower and legendary 426 Hemi... On the new hemi it is close but not quite the same. And HEMI does = POWER :D

Dizz, that's pretty cool! I've got a 3.23 gear in the rear of the Cuda - the Dart has 4.10s which are coming out for a set of 3.55. The higher numeric gears are just too much when I want to do roadtrips - 60mph and I'm at 5,000rpm? Blecch!

Thanks Foggy

1972 Jensen Interceptor Mk III

British built sports Grand tourer, designed by Italians (Vignale) with American engine and drivetrain - best of all worlds ...
7.2 litre 440 cubic inch Chrysler V8 - sounds like a monster!

Not the greatest fuel consumption in the world though ... :(

Leaves a carbon footprint the size of Godzillas.

(I like the sound of BP's '67 Stingray - howzabout some piccies of the car collection Sterling just to double my jealousy factor after seeing those picture sof your office / vault. I drove my mate's 1970 Stingray last year after he'd had it tuned up on a rolling road - hell of a buzz! - scary drive on cross-ply tyres).

AWESOME! That black Charger looks great. The photoshopped pic reminds me of the '77 Buick Regal I bought with a couple of friends back in '99 - we each kicked in $20 and that paid for the car and a half dozen cans of Krylon which we promptly used on the car. It's no '68-'69 Charger, but we did have some serious fun for 3 days before it got taken away from us (but that's another story)....

I have really been trying to kick my car habit. I LOVE cars, but have not the budget for it.

So, now with a family, I've been driving my company truck (1996 Chevy C1500 4.3L v6 extended cab) for a number of years; and the wife has a 2006 Honda Odyssey. The Odyssey, I'm almost embarrassed to say, is one of the most wonderful vehicles I've ever owned.

Here's a list of past vehicles, starting from most recent:

2004 Honda Accord LX
1995 BMW R1100GS motorcycle (sold when my son was born)
2000 Ford Mustang GT (headers, X-pipe, Steeda Springs, Hooker exhaust, etc.)
MustangPassSide.jpg

1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo
1976 Datsun 280Z (project car that never got started)
2003 Mazda Protege (don't ask)
1997 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 30th Anniversary
1992 Ford Mustang LX 5.0 (heads, cam, nitrous, ugly paint)
1999 Chevrolet Camaro SS (wrecked by whoring ex-wife)
1998 Honda Prelude (wonderful car)
1993 Nissan Sentra SE-R (the one I miss the most)
1985 Buick Regal Somerset (P.O.S.)
1984 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce (too expensive to insure for a 16-year old, $500 fuel pumps, etc.)

Geez, I have a problem.

For my next car, I would really love to be able to afford an Audi S4 Avant with a 6-speed. However, I'll probably go with the A4 Avant or something similar.
