I sold my '88 Stratocaster earlier this year. Although I had some sentimental attachment to it, I knew that I would probably never play it again after I got my Silo Spec.

Several years ago, I put in a Seymour Duncan pickup at the bridge of the Strat. I couldn't find the original single coil pickup, so I sold it to the guy as is. I was cleaning out my garage this weekend and I happened to find the original Strat pickup.

Now I am wondering what to do with it. Do you think I should try to track down the guy that bought the guitar, or should I try to sell/trade it on Craigslist? I sold an old Gotoh pickup on Craigslist a few months ago.

I also have a buddy who has a Mexican made Strat, I could give it to him as an upgrade, but I think it might just be a 6 or half dozen type of situation.

So WWYouD? :D

Yeah, I second whitestrat. Somebody out there would find the pickup worth some money. Probably enough to make it worth your while.

I would suggest that you soak it in lighter fluid.....then go out in the front yard and sit indian style cross legged naked and the light it on fire while channelling Yoko Ono.......

Either sell it or do something nice for someone...the karma may exceed the financial reward of ebay.

I think you should track down the guy that bought the strat, that pup should go back to its rightful owner, the strat. Failing that, give it to your pal.

the value of an 88 strat pick-up really aint worth worrying about.

Some strat pickups are great- certain old ones, or the new SCNs (Bill Lawrence) are worth holding on to. But ... most are garbage ... and should be run over. But yeah, better karma to send it to the owner, or hold on to it until a buddy needs a pickup and doesn't have the money, etc.
