Mine's from the name of the band I was in for the longest time. The wife was in psychology class at the time studying Freud and all of his "interesting" theories. Every one of of the guys in the band was certifiable in one way or another and we were searching for a name at the time. The way she saw it, we all needed a spin on Sigmund Freud's couch.... it stuck.

Note to anyone: NEVER brand amps, cases, equipment, YOURSELF, with the name of your band. It is the kiss of death.

I'm just me on this forum -- Beth. Let's not delve into my last name antics...

On other forums and IMs, my name is Taoofpoo, which is potty humor for Tao of Pooh, a great book about the essence of Pooh.

Mine's pretty easy ..
Real name = Jodi
All the gangstas call me = Jodizzle
All the cool kids call me = Jodizz

My nicknames tend to morph as much as P Diddy's ... or Diddy?

Isn't '' Jodi '' the dude that goes around to everyone's houses while the husbands are away.....?? :)

One fine August morning in 1960, Mr. Darling & Mrs. Darling had a little baby boy. :D

Well, only Mrs. Darling really. Mr. Darling was busy smoking and reading magazines left over from the Taft administration.

After Mrs. Darling had recovered somewhat she said, "Whatever shall we name him"?

To which my father replied, "How about Richard"?

My mother observed, "But, he has an uncle also called Richard"!

To which my father said, "Ah, Right you are. Let's name him Richard, and call him Ritchie as he is smaller than his uncle". :)

And there was much rejoicing! :D :D :D

At least until I arrived in school, and discovered that I would get no end of S**T for having the surname "Darling".

So, when I was 18, I changed it to "Page".

And after many years, changed it again. To "Prince". No, not after THAT Prince!

Then decided it was stupid to have even changed it once, as many people think the name "Darling" is kinda cool.

And so, I changed it back to "Richard Darling". :D

Really, I go by Rik mostly....

All true! :D
So at some point in your life, you were known as Dick Prince?

When he was four, my oldest son used to love opening the bathroom door after I took a shower to watch the steam clouds roll out. One particularly cold day, he did it, and I yelled out, "you little shii........steam thief!" My wife laughed her head off, and I liked the sound of it, thus my new internet handle.

Oh...so it's not like she was a Kommie or wanted to give you a majik kind of name. Well, it's Amerika...but frankly, I would have named you Erik.

krazy

Yeah, I'm not sure when the huge trend of intentionally mispelling children's names to make them unique started, but I hail from the late 70s. Working at a medical laboratory now, I see some really screwed up baby's names all the time that make me just twitch.

Kinda like when I had a lip ring, it was normal to me but everyone looked at me strange. I don't think twice about the spelling of my name but I suppose it may seem strange to some!

Unlike what some people have implied in the recent past:

Squid as in "A squid eating dough in a plastic bag is fast and bulbous -- got me?" From a Captain Beefheart album we listen to around here. (And use to drive away unwelcome guests.)

and Lizard is the nickname I was called by a former employer and other management persons there. One of the (now very former) management persons is the rhythm guitarist in my band and still calls me "Lizard" or "Lizard-Breath" when he's feeling affectionate. It's the only nickname I've ever answered to. Also, in the old days when roller derby was on TV there was a babe called "Liz Ard" which I thought was kinda cool in an angry roller derby kind of way.

jack thought my real name was tiffles hee hee

But it is! :D

Arianne ended up getting shortened to "Az" when I was at school, or "Azzy". And ever since then it's stuck! Work colleagues call me it when they ask me for a shortened version of my name, and I prefer it to my "proper" name, as it's one of my choosing.

Azzy, then became joined with Wazzy because it just sounds daft :D And it's been my moniker ever since! :)

I was a Blues Guitarist for many years and played nothing else. As I aged the guys started calling me "Ole Man Blues"...... so the title stuck.

Now I play nothing but Church Bass.........
