ive watched videos , they have teamed up with Bogner on it, i noticed that the amp knobs look a little.....cheap in operation, very flimsy looking, but yes you are right valves win hands down!

The Line 6 Spider has some of the worst tones l've ever heard, some of line 6 amp modelling isn't too bad, l might use a POD or something to do a rough demo, but l'd never use one live, l prefer the sound of good ol' tubes.

You should really give this new one a chance before making any assumptions..

It's ALL tube, ALL Bogner Amp. The modeling IS NOT the preamp to this, it's not a "hybrid" amp like all the rest. It uses 2 12AX7's in the preamp and 6L6's in the power amp side with true Celestion V30's in every cabinet.

I haven't actually heard one myself, but I've read a lot of misinformation out there. Let's wait until the sound samples are posted and we can try em out before jumping to any unfounded conclusions.

Well it is more or less like a Hugues & Kettner Switchblade : tubes with digital effects. Alex Lifeson seems to be happy with the Switchblade, so the concept can be good.
You're right : you have to try first. Just trust your ear (and don't read the specifications or the brand name, thus you are not influenced by the marketing of the product).
Personally my experience with digital modeling is that can have a very nice sound at low level but when you start to play loud, you can hear some "wrong" sound. It's the contrary with valves : at low level, it's a bit lifeless but when you go to 11 ... it starts to sing.

Lots of talk about this amp on various forums. Got to hand it to Line6, they're great about building up buzz.

Not for me, but will be interesting to hear when it's out. Until then ... what can you say about an amp that nobody's seen ...

I hope it works nicely. I hope it sounds good. I'm intrigued that they got Reinhold Bogner to work with them. I think it would be great if they put a silent record function in them. I couldn't really tell from the Line6 site if they had done that or not.

As a Line 6 user, the Spiders sound absolutely terrible. Sound like a overdrive pedal plugged into the PA. I played a new Flextone 3 last night and did not really like it. It was too fizzy, and I didnt like any of the models on offer. I think my Duoverb must be some kind of special mojo amp. Its the best Line 6 amp I have ever played through.

The Spider valve rocks. No doubt about it....and at a great price point too! The single 12" is sweet!!!

I had the 1 x 12 version of the spider valve. It sounded pretty good for low volume bedroom action. The clean was a big improvement. However when turning it up in a band situation I couldnt dial out the digital sounding distortion. Wasnt very warm to my ears but kind of cold and sterile. Its a step in the right direction but I think it suffers from just bad pre-amp modeling. Im sure over time itll work out really well .. but for now its not going to replace your favorite mesa or marshall.
