hey this is a bit off topic, but i thought it would be interesting none the less.

So, Why do you love you country, the aim of this thread is to give one reason why your country is the country of choice, plus give if you want to some little tid bit of info about your country, some unknown fact or something.

I'll kick things off shall i?

Well i love Australia because of its politics. Australians as a rule will almost always show absolutely no respect to politicians if in the publics eyes, the politician is a complete asshat. In some ways this could be considered a bad thing by many people, after all, arent our leaders there to be respected and revered?

Well in a sense yes, but i love the fact that Australians wont let anyone get away with anything, no matter how important they are. If someone high up the food chain starts acting like a drongo, expect to see the crap ripped out of them by the media, public, celebrities and anyone else you can think of. its truly a thing to see sometimes.

of course sometimes it is taken a bit too far, but basically I love the fact that Australians aren't intimidated by Authority, and if your acting like a complete a-hole, they will tell you.

If anyone has watched 'the chaser's war on everything', you'll understand what i mean :D

ABC TV: The Chaser's War on Everything - Video

and as for a bit of a miscellaneous fact, when an explorer was traveling across Australia for 'supposedly' one of the first times ever, he came across an Aborigine in the bush. When they walked over to each other, the Aborigine knelt down on the ground and drew the sign for the 'Free Masons' in the dirt

how weird is that!

I can't stand my country. I haven't got enough time to go into the myriad things which irritate me about this place.

I'm lucky though, in that I earn really good money so that sugars the pill somewhat. I really want to go live in Germany, but there are no opportunities there for people in my line of work. I'm thinking hard about an exit strategy though, and hopefully something will come together in a couple of years for me.

You already had your chance to be living within the borders of Germany, but you blew that when you took the "phone a friend option" :D

I love my country because we don't take ourselves seriously, and because we stole our cuisine from just about every other country in the world (apart from the Brits).

I love the USA because in spite of our tendency to legislate away all of our freedoms, there's still an awful lot of opportunity.

I love Europe/Germany because it has a great variety that some would not think of and the most people I know have a resonable way of thinking.

When I am in the US I also like it very much and considered a move to PA. But as soon as I am back I am still a bit more satisfied. :)
And also France, UK, Sweden is nearer from Germany. :p
