smoking that is. im chewing my first peice of nicotine gum. its the fruit chill flavor and still tastes like crap. but it feels wierd for sure... its got some bite or something to it.

anywho... i was laid out in bed, home sick most of the week. i woke up "wrong" on tuesday. pretty scary symptoms etc. called the doc, made and apt etc... turns out im all good now but i was pretty scared there in between the first sign of symptoms and getting to the Dr.

while i was home waiting for my apt. it dawned on me that I had to quit smoking or id be guaranteed to experience some worrisome hours again some day followed by bad news from the doc. its almost inevidable

my first step was to stop drinking coffee. my fear being the association of coffee and smoking would be the hardest thing to get over... especially in the morning. so anywho... now after 5 coffeeless mornings i figured id just stop smoking.

lets see how it goes... wish me luck

Best of luck on this! I stopped 10 years ago and it was one of the best things I did. Think of all the extra cash you'll have for basses

Wow coffee and cigarettes in the same week. You're a strong man. It's hard but it's a good choice. My husband quit smoking almost 15 years ago. He used the patch. Like most folks who quit, he doesn't regret it.

Congratulations and keep the faith!

I'll support you all the way with the smoking thing, but hurry up with getting back on the coffee. Nobody should have to suffer that much ;)

Beth knows this advice from me...Program yousrself to say and think " I don't smoke" not " I can't smoke" dont impl.ies that it is your choice

i like that. i kept a few lying around the house as temptation too. i thought it would be something kinda like facing your challenge

All the best, Arin!

thanks guys!

I quit smoking back in 1993, smartest move I ever made. ONLY downside, I gained about 25 lbs which no matter how much I exercise or diet, just can't get rid of. But I figure my body is better off with an additional 25 lbs than smoking over 2 packs a day.
I wish you all the best to quitting my friend, it's a tough road you're about to go down. I was one of those that would continually say "I'm quitting after this pack." Would finish that pack off, then off to the liquor store for more. One Sunday afternoon in Nov, I was sitting on my sofa watching football with my 2 sons, one 10, the other 12. My front door has small, about a foot square window in it, & the sun was shining in at just the right angle. As we were watching the game, I looked over & saw this cloud of smoke surrounding them. I thought to myself, they shouldn't have to be put through that, I crumbled up the remaining pack & never picked one up again.
I tried the patch, gum, lower tar/nicotine cigs (what a joke there), NOTHING worked. I wasn't even trying to quit when I did. I firmly believe you quit when you are ready. Time after time I tried to quit, but to no avail, finally the right moment/event & I quit.
Again I'm with you on this one bro, gonna be tough, but GO FOR IT.

shoot Phatty, I thought we were going to be unemployed together.

Way better thing to quit at. Good luck even though you won't need it.

My hat is off to you, my friend! It's been ten years fo me. And I don't even think about it anymore. An added bonus is that my daughter doesn't even remember when I smoked. NICE! :D

my first step was to stop drinking coffee.........

Well now, let's not be hasty! Giving up the smokes is one thing. But, a man has to have SOMETHING!

Nah, just needling ya! Good luck on the journey!

I quit 4 years ago. One of the toughest things there is. Nicotine is a powerful and sneaky drug.

I quit many, many times before it stuck. Your brain will think of lots of things to trick you into smoking. It needs the nicotine, so will invent ways to get you smoking again.

If you can be aware that this is your brain inventing excuses to smoke, you are most of the way to quitting for good.

smoke gets in yer IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII

smoking can increase yer chances of "stroking" ... I wish you don't go there and wind up like me in rehab...;)

keep on quitting ... it ain't too tough;)... I quit cigs "cold turkey 14 yrs ago ... tougher for me was to quit self-medicating with BC Bud, 5 yrs ago:eek:
but I increased my actual nighhtly bass practice time significantly and saved enough $$$$ for new SR5s ever since:)
You Can Quit, You ARE Quitting NOW:)

Not smoking - good...

Saving money - good...

Having the cash to buy another EBMM in a few weeks now that you don't spend the money on cigarettes - PRICELESS!
