OT: Younger Lukather

I just downloaded a video clip entitled "Super Boogie Live".

It was a performance with Jeff Beck, Carlos Santana and Steve Lukather.
I am guessing in happened in the early 80's judging by the way Steve was dressed. Carlos was wearing nothing special and Jeff was wearing his usual welfare get ups of a ripped white T.
Steve was a little chubbier, bigger hair and lighter. No go-tee. His tongue was moving all over the place as he was playing. Pretty funny.

It was a really great performance though or should I call it a jam!

I have that concert on Dvd, it's a great show, Luke always moves his touch around his mouth when playing guitar, he must do it when in deep concentration.

The tongue thing is funny. My father and brother both do that exact thing when they're concetrating.

Steve is whaling away nicely so he pulls off the tongue thing well.

I think it's just called Live in Japan 1986.

Yeah ive got the dvd too, had it on vhs since the mid 90's. Gotta say, awful tones!

Yes it is Japan 86 as I have this DVD for ages, you can find it on ebay. Well I am glad Rob beat me to it lmfao, but Lukes tone is dreadful on this show as it sounds like he has 20 pedals on at the same time and his tone is sucked dry.On the other hand his playing is stellar and his fingers are flying faster than the concord and gives his his all. But like a true pro I must admit I read a few interviews with Luke who has the balls to admit it was a crazy party era, and that he got a bit gear crazy during this period and his tone suffered for it. Also could be because he is not playing an EB lol.

The one I have is called The Nagano Session. The problem is that it's not really an official release so to speak so there's a few on ebay with a different name/cover. One is just labelled under Lukather and Jeff Beck without Santana. Despite it being on the same date :s
