So, I love my SR4, but the case is so big (which is great), but my car is so small. At the moment it wont fit in the boot (trunk for all your north american types), so I have to leave it lying behind the driver and passenger side, and it only just fits in with 3mm to spare or so.

Does anyone here use a case thats a lot smaller and fits an SR4? Im thinking about the SKB countoured case, but they have to be ordered in specially and I dont want to order it and find it doesnt fit. Any contoured case will fit in my boot I figure.

Dont really want to use a gig bag. I need a hard case, cause it can be knocked around quite a bit.

I have several Levy gig bags. All are very strudy, and very well padded. It would take a severe amount of abuse to hurt a bass inside one of these.

Q: is your bass really exposed to that amount of trauma?

If so, I suspect that amount of trauma would also break most plastic cases (such as the one for my G&L L1500).

Perhaps you should investigate an ATA travel case for your bass.

I swear by Hiscox Liteflite cases. Best moulded cases on the market IMHO

+1 better than the MM case imo

I wasn't necessarily saying that, but I do own several Hiscox cases, for basses that didn't come with a case (eg. my first Bongo) and for basses that have LE cases that I'd prefer not to beat up (eg. 30th Annie). The Hiscox cases are in a league of their own compared to generic SKB/Gator/TKL moulded cases.

Yup they are in a league of their own - best case I've had.
SKB cases mark very easily and the strap (which stops the lid from opening 180 degrees) is only stuck in. (Mine has become unstuck)
At least you can keep the trem fitted to the guitar when using an SKB case and lets face it if you worry about guitar cases getting scratched when you gig then get another case that you don't worry about.

I'll do the same if / when I get a LEAL and get a second case for it.
