I'm curious about a few aspects of the manufacturing process of the Stingray( well, EB/MM's in general).
What parts of the instrument are outsourced? I know that pickup covers and the tuners are, and I would imagine that the control knobs are, but is there anything else?
How do you paint the translucent burst finishes? Pacific Blue Burst for example. Is that just a stain that you continually apply more coats of as you get toward the edge, or is it done with a spray gun?
If these are no-no questions, a simple "I can't tell you" will be more than fine. But I really would like to know how you paint those finishes, I want to build a custom bass, and PBB is a freaking awesome color. Thanks.
