Guys,
What do you do when you over wax a neck?
My AL now feels waxy...

You could try using some lighter fluid (Naphtha) on a soft cloth to strip it away. Put some into the cloth and wipe it onto the back of the neck. Fold the cloth and repeat. Let the lighter fluid evaporate and feel the neck to see if it's any better.

Ouch,
I'm not sure about that. oooo steel wool would take off any excess. I wouldn't put any unauthorized flammable liquids on an unfinished neck unless they're recommended by EBMM. ***disclaimer; not trying to moderate***

Yep 0000 steel wool works perfect, both ways, over wax and sticky neck. I always use it if I think my neck needs redone and well usually does not light 0000 sanding and back to normal. Just remember to cover the magnetic pups!:)

Naptha has been used and is safe for cleaning maple necks. I've used it for years.

Lots of folks suggest it and use it.

0000 Steel wool would be my next suggestion but I don't like using it as much because of the mess and the chances that one little tiny filament of steel could short out your pickups if you're not careful.

Sweat makes a good point about the pup's. I usually cover mine with painter's tape and lay the guitar on a towel. I'd really be scared to put a flammable liquid on my Balls.:mad::mad::mad:

You could always go on a playing binge & wear the wax off the old fashion way. That would be the most fun.:D:D

Don't worry about putting lighter fluid on yer balls. It will evaporate very quickly.

Learned to use it from Dan Erlewine back in the early 90's. It's been in my guitar kit ever since.

I like the 3M pads (white) as they do not leave nasty bits like steel wool. Those always seem to find a way to the pickup magnets.
