Well, I asked a couple days for a neck HB replacement. OrangeChannel suggested PAF Joe. I couldn't find it. PurpleSport adviced also PAF Pro. I've bought it. Unfortunatelly it's all black (not zebra like my bridge HB). But it doesn't matter. I also decided to change pots to push-pull and change these plastic knobs to chrome ones. More :) I got rid of that 3rd position I've never used.

Now my configuration is:
1. HB bridge (series) - with tone push-pull it's outer coil (bridge side) only
2. Outer coils (parallel)
3. Outer coils (series)
4. Inner coils (parallel)
5. HB neck - with volume push-pull it's outer coil (neck side) only

Well, men, it's a new guitar now ;-) I always liked HB bridge because of its mids. I didn't liked HB neck because of its muddy lows and not enough brightness. Now positions 2&4 sounds quite different - more glassy, like a real strat/tele. 3rd position is great for slide playing. Bridge outer coil is nice for old r'n'r riffs. But the greatest surprise is a neck single coil from PAF Pro (position 5, outer coil). Really great! Sparky highs, nice lows. I know that Axis is not gonna be a Strat, but that single coil PAF Pro plays much better than all Strats I've ever had. Now this guitar really rocks! ;)

OrangeChannel & PurpleSport - thanks for your advices!

Regards,
Jacek

Thanks for the update, Jacek, and glad to hear the Pro worked out for you! I knew it was great for those in-between positions with a middle single coil but I've never tried it split by itself before, so I'm happy to hear it's a winner.

FYI, I do have experience with splitting other DiMarzio HBs in single-coil mode, and they sounded quite nice (in some cases even better, like with their Super 3 - the split coils in that one almost sound like soapbars or "fat strat" pickups, probably because it's wound so hot).

Looks like I'll need to get a couple of push-pull pots for my JEM now! :)

NICE! Push pulls are a great option. Some cool tones to be had all around man. I think Norm has the craziest switching system known to man however...hehe. :D
