Parting a guitar out

I have a 2010 Alber lee hardtail I'm think about parting out. What do you think the neck is work? It has some fret wear and about a Nickle size finish crack/blemish on the headstock. Otherwise great condition.

Also wondering what a loaded body would sell for. May even part out the pickups alone…what are they worth?

You’d really have to look at sold sales on Reverb, etc to get an idea of what the pieces are worth.

Is there a reason you want to part it out rather than sell it outright?

EBMM guitars are not strats. You're very unlikely to get more for the parts than you would for the whole guitar. There isn't much of an EBMM market for items like that, and items being "all original" is far more important to Musicman owners than it typical is to Fender players.

This forum is mainly for discussion of Music Man guitars, basses, and so forth. It's not to serve as a pricing resource for reverb / ebay sellers. There are paid services out there you should be able to utilize that track prices on marketplaces.

But seriously, the only reason I can think of to part out an EBMM guitar is if it's stolen and the item you won't be listing is the neck plate with serial number. Or, I guess maybe if the body or neck are busted beyond repair, but OP said he wants to list both. So... I don't understand unless it's hot...

Thanks for the responses. I bought the guitar on eBay a few years ago and have enjoyed it but I prefer a wider nut. Because the guitar body has a few dings, the headstock has some finish checking and the frets are slightly worn Ive thought about parting it out to fund another guitar. For as nice as these guitars are they don't seem to sell for what they're worth, even when they're in better cosmetic shape than the one I've got. Figured when looking for answers like this seems asking a forum that appreciates these guitars the most would be a good idea.

I agree with tbone. EBMM guitars and basses are very rarely parted out because the market for spare parts is so small. And even then, if they are not in 'as new' condition, it'll be a hard sell. And yes, the resale value of pre-owned EBMMs is low, but then again very few brands keep their resale value compared to Fender and Gibson. And don't forget selling a guitar in X pieces means X number of transactions to do, which is more time and effort and I don't think that's worth it. Better to keep the guitar intact, IMHO.

I would hove zero interest buying a buying a used ebmm neck. So to answer your question, I think the value is worthless.
My best sounding guitar I bought off ebay. It has dings that won't buff out. I really enjoyed cleaning the mud covered neck and refinishing with the oil and wax.
Please post a picture and share what you paid for it.

I actually bought the body and a solid rosewood neck off an Albert Lee separately - same guitar, for what it would have sold whole. I would just put the guitar up for sale as is. One of the best guitars I've had was a beater Axis with rosewood top/neck. Sorry I sold it.

That’s awesome! Sometimes those beat-up guitars have the most character and tone. I’d love to see how yours turned out after refinishing it.
