Ever notice how the Pearl Redburst finish can vary from guitar to guitar? I just received a loaded JP6 off Ebay yesterday. And while it's a beautiful guitar in new condition, upon opening the case, I thought: "Hmm, that doesn't look my other PRB Pet". When I compare them, side by side, I notice two main differences: 1) The burst on my '04 Pet is slightly darker than the '05 that I received yesterday. It creates a greater contrast to the red center. 2) The red on my '04 is more red than the '05. The '05 is more of a burgundy.

I've seen some other finishes where the burst is almost black as well. Interesting as I rarely notice this kind of variation in other colors. Of the two, I prefer my original '04 which is why I probably won't sell it now. I'm not sure thought what I'm going to do with the '05. It really needs to be cleaned up. There isn't a mark on it other than needing a cleaning. So, this weekend I'm going to take the neck off, polish the frets, oil then neck, lemon oil the board, polish the body and re-string. It did sound great through my Vox Tonelab last night though.

I do know now that I want a Pet with the Piezo so even if I end up selling the '05, I'll probably order a new Pet with no options other than the Piezo, but in a color other than PRB.

I'll post pics of the '05 after she's been prepped. That'll be tomorrow or Sunday.

Peace!

Dave
