Have Bongos ever been available in this color?

Currently... when they're mislabeled on Amazon.com as a Pearl White 4HH and there is a picture of a 5HH. I'm tempted by the exceptional price. Word is that it is actually silver. This info may... or may not be... related to your inquiry.

Check the first post in the Bongo Head thread and see Brant's (Boombox's) bass. Not sure if that's Pearl White, but it sure is purdy.

As a former owner of a White Bongo HSp (possibly the one in the picture above), I know they do exsist. Not sure if the color was called pearl white at the time. There was an odvious mismatch of paint between the neck and body which was the reason they discontinued white Bongo's. Brandt has a factory one-off with a white body, black headstock and neck and black hardware. JOSH

Yeah, that's the one you eventually got from Guitar Center. The neck color match was worse on that one than on the fretless one that replaced it. Of course, that neck color eventually stopped matching too when the body started to turn creamy and the neck finish didn't.

Ernie Ball CS confirmed to me that the "White Pearl" ones on Amazon are actually Sterling Silver. I sent in a correction to Amazon, but I doubt they have actually fixed it.

100% related, lol, great price. I looked at the silver finish at basscentral, which is pretty nice, but the white like I've seen on the Big Als would make me click the checkout tab!

That's what I thought when I saw the link on Amazon, they are notorious for posting bad pics.

Thanks for all the responses!

I have the white 5HSp that Josh is referring to. It does have a mismatch between the body and the neck/head mainly due to clear coat on the body getting a slight creamy-ness. I think if the headstock had been clear coated like the rosewood necks, they would both be creamy now. It does not bother me, it's part of the history of the Bongo and the bass sounds great.

DAMN YOU !!

I was going to grab that Big Al & someone stole it from me... it appears Amazon is NOT replenishing its inventory thus we are not going to see the quantity of deals we've had

Turns out that the mysterious Amazon Bongo is actually a gorgeous Sterling Silver 5HH in a molded case complete with a classy "BONGO MUSICMAN" plaque by the handle.
