I am a Rabid Pedal guy hahaha ...Chain is subject to your ear but there was a lot of good advice ...Pedals are an addiction in themselves because they can transform a great amp into whatever....I play in a cover band so i have a lot of dirt...that means Low gain Overdrive ,High Gain Overdrive, Fuzz ,Distortion , Amps in a box type pedals ....and of course a delay or 2 (1 for slapback/cleans and another for dirt signals) and a chorus I also have a EQ/Buffer pedal at the end of my chain to "tweak " my tone...Also my 61 Fender Bandmaster has no Reverb so i have a Spring Chicken Reverb Pedal as well ...and My Diamond Compressor takes care of the squishy stuff ....Now i know i dont need all these pedals but it sure is great to have em .....its all wired up with LAVA cable and a DC brick and a godlyke power it up....Also some are setup for the LUKE/AXIS SS which are Humbuckers ....and some are setup for the AL's ....and i can run this true stereo thanx to my "Diamond ST-Mix" ....and yes i take the Super and the Deluxe to the Gigs ...I love taking the gear hahaha and i dont mind lugging it and im 40 years old ...its what keeps me young!

I'm a vibe guy. I recommend a vibe pedal. At least do yourself a favor and play through a vibe type pedal to see what you think. A boost pedal is also a great idea. I'm a big fan of boost. I agree with most of the previous replies, a delay is a great thing to get. The hardwire delay is pretty good, the nova delay is even better. Good luck, Fing.

Thanks for the replies and advice and links, like I said only wanting a small one with effects I like 6 or 7 total and BTW no effects loop on my amp so this is going to be straight forward.

Right now it is a tonebone classic distortion pedal, a hand wired MXR Phase 90,a MXR Black Label Chourus and EB WAH.

From the replies looks like I will add a delay pedal of some sort and something else, but not a tuner, no need on the board for me, plus I have a very good Korg tuner, hopefully by the time my Luke arrives this will be done as well:)

Sounds like a good plan. Fing, I have an effects loop on my amp, but I don't use it. Use the progression I listed, and you should be in good shape.

Again a good way to go is:

Wah
Distortion/OD/Fuzz - you can play with the placement of distortion/OD. Some like it after the wah, some before.
Modulation effects - Phaser, Flanger, Chorus, Tremolo
Delay or any time based effects

Keith - Have you ever considered doing a wet /dry setup? Here's mine below - I was trying for a Bonamassa type setup - plus 2 4x12's make a big sound - oh yeah and I have no neighbours ;)

Mine below

EB WAH - OF COURSE!
- (By the way my cat pooped on my pedal board last week my EB Wah the only thing to survive untarnished - these are amazing pedals!

Sabine Tuner

Morley A B Y box

Out A - Straight to Marshall DSL50 Head & 4x12 (2 backup heads, Sovtek Mig 50 and Blackheart little giants) Have a Marshall Echo Head in the DSL FX Loop

Out B
Then goes to TS-9
Pignose Detonantor (thank LUM - It was a cool birthday gift)
Behringer Tremolo
Line6 Roto Machine
Rocktron Short Timer.

That goes into the line on my Fender Hot Rod Deluxe, with Marshall 4x12 out.

My pedals go as such into the effects loop of my MESA M9 Carbine:
Crybaby Wah > SansAmp Tri AC > ISP Decimator

My amp has a compressor and a defeatable 9-band graphic EQ built-in so I have that covered without any external effects. Aslo, the graphic EQ acts as a boost pedal because of the gain increase in the signal when I turn it on.

Also, I have a Fender Bassman 100 off to the side for my Piezo tones that has no effects in its chain, though I may look into putting a SansAmp pedal in front of it.

Some of you have lots of nice toys for grown up to play with!
Personally I try to need the least pedals that I can, but one that I would not live without is the EA Memory Man.
Much better in the FX Loop.

sorry if im changing the subject here, just wondering does anybody rate multi effects over stomp boxes ? have just sold off my stomp boxes and am looking at either a line 6 M13 or the nova system. the line 6 gets great reviews and is supposed to be very easy to use.

I have the m13 - recommended. Simple or as complex as you want it to be.

ooh. tough call. i LOVE pedals and could collect them all year long. However i don't like having to perform the riverdance when gigging. So, i run a nova system. amazing little unit. i used to run a g-system however i downsized a lot of my gear and the novasystem has been the perfect replacement. highly recommended.

From the other side of the fence but still love having fun with pedals, there is a Dunlop-white Cry Babby kickking about that i keep falling out with hence it not being in this picture, effects are fun :)

Fing get yourself a vibe pedal - get the Danelectro one - I paid 28 quid for it, rather than 250 quid for a univibe. I also recommend a compressor - one that doesn't squash everything up - the one I have on my board cost 60 quid and is very transparant.
I wish I had a delay, and may get rid of my overdrive to accommodate one and replace it with a separate Blackstar dual.

Build your own board like I did (see here) - it was fun !!!

Spud thanks I will pick up the Danelectro vibe I can get it really cheap:D

Also going to add the delay, just not sure which one there are many choices and price range is tremendous from cheap to more than my amp head cost:eek:

Thanks catdaddy, very good link:)

Keith,

I wanted to include a pic of my board in my last post, but couldn't find one. I happened to find one today so here it is.

Since you don't have an FX loop, with what you listed you have, I would go in this order: Guitar > Wah > Distortion > Phase > Chorus > Amp

The beauty of pedals is that you can put them in whatever order you want. So if you think the Phaser sounds better before the wah and distortion, then you can put it there. And since you don't have an FX Loop, that makes experimentation a little easier....at least as far as "in the loop or not" types of issues.

I love my Eventide time factor but I guess if you want something easier to manage and less expensive the MXR carbon copy is a very good product
