Earlier today we were over at a friends who happened to have a Peter Gabriel DVD playing in the background. Now I've always been a fan, even back to his Genesis days, but OMG is this a great DVD. And the piece de resistance is most certainly the bass player. What a beautiful 5 string Ray he's playing.

Now I hope you didn't all cover this, like, 3 years ago. And if you did, my apologies. And if you haven't seen it, this is a must have DVD.

You're completely off.

I can't remember the real name of that finish now, but I think Tony calls it "Barbie Flesh".

I don't think Tony was playing his usual Barbie Flesh SR5 at the open house show (in the pics above). The Barbie Flesh bass is more of a pinkish flesh color. This bass may have been provided to Tony for the evening (I think I may have seen it on the rack in the factory during the end of the tour)

"Barbie Flesh" was originally called "Peach" if I remember correctly. Can't remember if it was discontinued because somebody pointed out that it looked like barbie flesh or if it was just plain unpopular. My fuzzy memory is trying to prod me in believing there was a story to this.

You're spot on. I wasn't thinking exactly straight last night!

Here's the master playing the bass in question. I recall the pickup in older models like this one had a construction scheme different from what is offered now. Alnico or ceramic - Levin favors the older one, whatever it is.
