If EBMM offered a small 10 day window to order this run again, I'd order a Bongo HS in a 4 or 5. Like....now. Even if I have to pay them half direct! I'd do it NOW!

They not available? You sure? Email em, they will tell you where it lies...

I'd pay in full right now, no question, thats how strongly I believe in the Reflex HH5 but its seems I'm a very rare bird, I didn't think that was the case. I'm going to buy a beater 5 as it is & wait until the next release...

but likely if people dont step up & order, the PDNs are unlikely to stock them like they do the others. They dont sell ! Crazy

Bassmonkeee - Give it a rest please? If you don't like the content of the thread move along to something that interests you. I agree it's a losing battle, but no need to be so condescending.

Tuna - If I had the money, and it WAS available, after seeing Rick's pics? I would DEFINITELY order 1.

How about you worry about your posts, and if you have a problem with mine, you click the little exclamation point in the corner of the post instead of playing moderator? If you don't like my posts, by all means--ignore them, or put me on ignore. I won't cry. Or, to paraphrase..oh..YOU--"If you don't like my posts, how about you ignore them and move on to ones that you do like?"

I was making a point. I can't help (nor do I care) if you don't like how I did it. It's not like I said, "Stop whining." I presented several scenarios that showed why it simply wasn't realistic, or practical.

Stu I understand where you're coming from on this and best of luck - however I'll be honest I had the same view as Bassmonkee - these were order within window or no can do - I couldn't and still can't afford one much as I'd likey. I'm quite pleasantly surprised some dealers ordered basses for stock - you're right as well - that Reflex is stunning.

Now guess what - not a single PDN anything ordered for the UK - guess our economy is still down the pan - BUT I understand we may be able to order from US dealer stock in these circumstances.

Gareth - I knew you'd give in to the GAS ;)

Keko - I reckon it's time to order a Bongo from Bass Central or someone :D I simply don't know how they could top the specs for this PDN run for a 10th Anni (if they make one) - they are THAT good.

I'm interested to know if they built any lefties - the PDN2012 was available on instruments where lefties are offered, as I understand. Or fretless?

Kudos to EBMM making such a desirable limited edition - even the Bongo critics on the British forum have been silenced/wowed by these basses.

Thanks for the input Dr. Stingray

The bottom line is EBMM wowed the masses here & people are certainly having regrets! I personally didn't have the funds or desire to buy a 5er during the window. The reality is that the PDNs aren't going to order limited editions in any quantity for the "rogue" basses... and contrary to what I thought, the Reflex is a rogue bass that isn't selling well (or the PDNs would have ordered em from what they told me)

Now we know right? I'm glad we can have these discussions openly in a friendly manner (for the most part). I hear exactly what you naysayers are saying, so next time I'm ordering... sight unseen which is NOT my normal instincts but after this run... I feel more assured in doing that.... the ad didn't sell em but the results surely did

So after some serious research talking to EBMM, the PDNs, the forumites... we understand the process for next time.

We cool?

Again... props to EBMM for making not only the best bass I've ever seen but with an electronics package that nobody else is willing to do at this price point. I'm in next time, you got a HIGH bar to beat though, good luck with that !

1. The ad did the final product no justice, the final product looks MUCH better
Answer: It is a print ad...it isnt three d...very hard to have a pic do a instrument justice.
2. To ask people to fork over 2k sight unseen is hard for some people to do
Answer:OUr model is based on not making inventory...since 1984. If you order a bass today it would be done in February
3. Most assumed upon release these would be available for purchase at the pdns so it was not clear a preorder was required, how could we know the reflex hh5 wouldn't be?
Answer The PDN from the start is limited. We have always said it. It was created to give international and non guitar center domestic dealers a chance at special stuff since Guitar Center orders so many special runs

4. All other models/configs have multiple available now

Answer ?????????
5. To one off your best flagship model, the only one with a series parallel option is a shame
answer If no dealer orders it we cant make it...

6. This edition means more on a reflex due to no pick guard to cover it up
Answer subjective.
7. The other models have many translucent models, multiple colors available now new and used while the reflex has just black white yellow and honey burst which are clearly not as pretty as the PDN
answer that is why it was special
8. Personally it's impossible to buy a regular reflex after seeing this, for 2k I don't want to settle
Answer Sorry I cant do anything about that there are still 25th anniv on shelves they are nice
9. Maybe we can round up a few more that would order with me now that we know they aren't available as the others are and seeing how they came out

Answer sorry its too late....
10. I'll make something up, I just want 10 reasons!

Anyone else think it's super cool to see this response being provided by the man at the top of it all?

Talk about service! Yet another reason that I love this product. A great medium such as this forum to support a great product, with completely transparent discussion.

Trust me to get the job of my dreams outside the window!

Still, can't complain. At least I'm ready should another run hit next year that I'm interested in.

Unfortunately it seems we can't order from the UK now as first envisaged, which is a big shame.

The UK economy and the UK in general winds me up at times; we are far too conservative. But trust me, if S&T had ordered a Bongo or Reflex in HH, 4 or 5, I would be ringing this morning to buy it.

Thanks for the input BP...what an amazing sight the PDN Reflex/Bongo is!!!

BP- Your company, cant argue

Great job with the run, its stunning

Now that we know what PDNs are going to stock & why, we all have more clarity as to what we have to order or else

Thanks for keeping this not mean spirited guys... it was very informative talking to you guys, the PDNs & EBMM to have a gameplan for the next one. I'm just hoping its as good as this one because I think a lot of the outsiders are going to jump !

Tuna....I think that many people and obviously you believe that our company is super big and that we should be able to do everything that makes it work for you. Im not saying this from a biter point...but with the over 150,000 combinations available I cant make everything.

Also one of the biggest problems with this thread is that you were sort of blaming us for you not understanding just what PDN was.

BP I think there's just a lot of people thinking that Reflex is that stunning that they are sore they didn't see the light previously! I love the Reflex - every one I see is fabulous but nothing could have prepared me for the beauty of that PDN 2012 one.

I don't think anyone reading the ad will have got much beyond the words mahogany body and Stingray/Bongo without realising this would be something very special - after all everyone has lusted after these since the 30th Ray and the occassional mahogany Bongo produced as specials - add the roasted birds eye necks and it's all very clear.

As people have said - that Reflex is unbelievably gorgeous - as are the other basses we've seen pictures of - a great special run of instruments. Can't wait to hear some samples.

BP- This thread is about this.... I think the Reflex HH5 is a fantastic bass... I figured as a result it would be made in more quantity... but it turns out that the Reflex sells poorly & the PDNs didn't want to stock it

No blame anywhere & I've said that MANY times, MANY times in all these posts. It is what it is & I just wanted to know why no Reflex HH5s were ordered & now I know... and I also know that NEXT time it will be the same so its Preorder a Reflex or you get none, if you want a Stingray\Sterling... its going to be there, because they sell 50\100 to 1 vs the Reflex

Now we know, thats all this thread is about

EDIT: I also believe that if people had more of a shot at this bass now seeing it the PDNs would be surprised at the pent up interest in the Reflex HH but it appears I AM WRONG so I'm certainly not blaming you or the PDNs for their decision

We are cool, lets not be uncool going forward

EDIT2: I just can't wait for the next release...

I just think it's super cool that I just got a slap on the wrist from the man on top, and he still spells my name wrong every time LOL!

Sorry BP I wasn't trying to moderate, but just felt the comments were a little harsh. I guess I'm a sensitive guy. :)

Reflex is special species, ...it's the newborn Musicman cult, ...something like Bongo in early days, ...only different! :)

You can like it or not, ...there's no third option!

What's important: -in every single part, ...it's pure Musicman bass, ...have Musicman roots, philosophy, ...parts, ...sounds like a Musicman, ...it's even Made in SLO, CA, USA factory! ;)

So give that newborn species a try!

P.S. ...only what could be improved is to increase a color chart and finish those maple fretboards! :D

I think you got something here Keko- which is what I was discussing with the PDNs, that I believe the Reflex demand will pick up with the better color chart... but I must be honest... at this point I'm willing to call myself WRONG, I was hoping that more people would chime in here with a hell yeah I wanna order one too! Hasn't been the case...

I just want to say that there is the only Black Sugar PDN Reflex 5HH on eBay right now. There was only one of those made as the Honey PDN. I wanted to keep it a secret but I can't afford it anyway. If someone is gassing for a roasted neck Reflex 5 this may be your only chance seeing as there are but 2 on Earth.
