Hi all, new to the forum.
I just purchased a Petrucci 6 string with piezo, how do I use both input jacks through a sennheiser wireless? The problem I have is that if I only use the mono/piezo input I am only able to get just piezo in the up position if I turn the magnetic pickup volume all the way down. This makes it very difficult trying to quickly switch from piezo to magnetic. It would seem that it should be as simple as flipping the magnetic/piezo switch without having to touch the volumes.

Would the correct way be to use a "Y" cord with two male phono plugs, one into the magnetic and one in the mono/piezo input, with a female phono on the other end that the wireless male phono jack would plug into? Would this then make it strictly piezo in the up position completely cuttting out the magnetic pickups, and strictly magnetic in the down position completely cutting out the piezo?

Thank you all for your expert assistance with this problem.

Regards,

Michael

Hey man, welcome aboard!

I can't speak on the specifics of how the two volumes would operate (not a Petrucci owner, though one can jump in and clarify), but in theory, a Y-cable could do the trick. Just make sure that it is mono-ended (one ring on the tip) for the males AND female.

Petrucci folks, ante up...let's help this boy out! :)

Hey, thank you for the welcome. I will give it a try. I used my Petrucci for the first time on Sunday and it was awesome! Also, a very comfortable neck to play. I have around 16 guitars, mostly PRS's, and I must say that the Petrucci was very comfortable playing, and the high gain sound was awesome. I'm not particularly fond of the middle pickup sound, and there is a drop in volume in this position as well, but for the rock stuff it's great! Playing through a Mesa Road King, and don't use any effects for my distortion sound, just the pure sound of the guitar and amp. Use some POD xt effects for my clean sounds when needed for chorus, flang, delay, and wah.

I don't have my Petrucci yet, but I do have a fishman in mine main guitar and run wireless. Since I was sending the piezo and magnetics to two different places I actually run two sets of wireless. Then again, I send my piezo to the PA as it sounds like ass into a guitar amp (imho).

I went with the Samson Airline Wireless because my band(s) already run In Ear Monitor systems so I didn't feel like having three belt packs and wires and cables going everywhere. :D

16 guitars, Sennheiser wireless, PRS's, Mesa amp, Line 6. You obviously have a lot of bread invested in your axes and equipment.

My question is: with all of that coin dropped in gear, you DO have furniture, right? ;)

Lot's of furniture, three homes full, PA, NJ and FL. But there's nothing better then gear, and playing. Why do I have 16 guitars, a Mesa Road King stack, etc., and keep buying more? Because I can! Not being sarcastic, just having fun, life is short gotta have some fun, and play.....
