I was just wondering, is there any footage of John actually playing the JPX? I'm curious to see/hear it. It looked like he might have used it on the documentary for the drummer auditions for one song, but there isn't a good enough camera shot to tell for sure.

It's on the drummer documentary, and if you look up videos of DT's South American tour in 2010 I'm pretty sure he uses it there somewhat.

I've seen this question asked a few times now. I can't help but wonder why it matters. I bought my first JP because of the body design and features, not because JP played it. If you like it, play it! :)

because I want to hear if there's a difference in his tone?

Exactly why I asked. :) I hadn't thought of that. My ear isn't good enough to tell the difference, especially from live footage.

I've always been curious of this too. I bought the JPX because at the time it was the latest and greatest. After having it I desperately waited for some HD coverage of him playing it. I almost started to think he doesn't really like the JPX:( maybe cud of the 5 way.

Do you think the chambering really makes a difference? Also does the 5 way switch get in the way when you alternate pick on the high strings?

Well I've played a jp6 as well as a BFR model and I have to say the JPX is much more resonant. It just sings.

I think that JP doesn't use it because of the chambered body. *If* I remember correctly John said it's good for clean and acoustic but not for thight metal riff.
