If you go to the official John Petrucci web site (www.johnpetrucci.com), you can now purchase his new solo album "suspended animation".

The album is only for sale through the online store Sound Mind Music, which is unfortunate, IMHO. I thought perhaps Vai's Favored Nations label would pick this up for distribution like his duet with Jordan Rudess. Oh well.

Mr. Petrucci is distibuting his solo cd himself (solo, ha!). It stinks that we have to wait the time it takes to get the cd shipped to our greedy hands instead of just picking it up the day of release at the music shoppe, but that's the way the man wants to conduct his business, his cd, his terms. Cool beans.

I hope all you guys support our fellow EBMM player and purchase his cd. I already ordered 3, for myself and to give to friends.

Alot of guys who ordered the cd early on the release day received direct confirms from Mrs. Rena Petrucci by e-mail. How do you like that for hands-on?!
I can just imagine John and Rena staying up all night licking stamps and addressing bubble cushion envelopes. :D

GO GET 'EM JOHN!

Now that would be funny, let's just hope John didn't use the same envelopes as George Costanza used.

I think it's great John did it like this, why fill the record exec.'s pockets which cash, l'm glad it's going to the Artist, l don't care if l have to wait for a month for this cd, l'm still getting it.

Scott.

Good for JP

Steve Vai told the story at a guitar clinic I saw him do in '03 that he did everything for his cd PASSION and WARFARE. He said he got 7 bucks a copy and it sold around 500,000.

He said this wearing a big sh!t-eating grin. Perhaps John will get other distribution a bit down the line on his terms.

My copy just showed up in the mail. Giving it the first run through.

Dave LaRue plays on all but one track.

Most of the songs have a "Train of Thought" feel to them. A little darker, and heavier.

Nice tone, the chops go without saying.

Great disc...some good playing...a good DRIVING album...especially since I don't have to think about lyrics! Hahahaha. Then again no mock falsetto orb grabbing, that usually scares the old folk....

just got the cd...wow..amazing!!...does anyone agree that glasgow kiss has some steve morse kind of syle

Listening to all of JP's output will show a broad spectrum of his influences...that being said Glasgow sounds like a Steve Morse Band song or a Dregs tune...great track!

And if I didn't know any better, I'd swear that "Curve" was a Joe Satriani tune.

still listening and still loving it...

Sounds like one Mr. Vai as well...

...but all this comparison aside....it's not like anything I do doesn't sound like what i grew up on....it's the ultimate form of tribute to quote the influences!
