PG for black bongo?

What pick guard for black bongo?

I'm thinking about a change from the plain black PG I currently have on my black Bongo 5-er (5HH). I just want to add some texture, but not a lot of color contrast vs. the black bass. Suggestions? (pics if you've got 'em!).

I'm thinking maybe black perloid or gold swirl....

Which of these three is darkest:
1. Black Pearloid (this one almost looks grey on some pics I've seen, but if dark enough might be my first pick)
2. Moonstone
3. Abalone

Black is good on black, but Plan B would be tort.

I've got a Black Bongo 4HH and I replaced the black pickguard with an abalone pickguard. The contrast is perfect, it looks fab. I can post a picture but it will have to wait until tonight.

Is the abalone as blue as it appears in the pics above?

I'd say generally not blue as the primary color. It's on the dark side and very subtle and kind of translucent, with flashes of blue, turquoise, even touches of orange and purple. It also depends on the angle you look at it. I think it's quite beautiful and works great on the black body. I don't think you's be disappointed.

ok, I'm done.

Goes like this:

This morning, I ordered the Black Perloid guard with AJ in Customer Service.
Then later on, with special thanks to Beth (and although I might sound a bit sarcastic about it...I mean it -thank you!!) based on the pic that she posted, I called AJ back this afternoon and added the Gold Swirl PG to my order. Yes, the Python looks swell too, but I'd prefer an overall gold hue (Gold Swirl) to a more green-ish hue (Python).

So...ok...I've spent 2x what I had hoped to and have now ordered two guards vs. one, but cant wait to see how BOTH guards look on my bass! I suspect it'll be a tough call and I may be switching b/t the two once in a while.

I'll get some pics up for the curious once the PGs arrive.
