Pops - i used Quicktime Broadcaster to do the recording. Its a free download from Apple: http://www.apple.com/quicktime/broadcaster/

here's some dude's blog w/ info on how to setup quicktime boradcaster to save files to disk: http://aplawrence.com/MacOSX/first_video.html?ref=foo

also, not sure if it's a quicktime pro option or not, but you can launch quicktime player and go to File > New Movie Recording and have at it.

also also, i believe iMovie can use your macbook's isight allowing you to record right into the editor.

:D

bp i'm sure your IT staff rocks the macs, but if you ever have any mac specific questions, i'd be happy to be tech support. it's how i paid the bills before i got on my musical feet... as a mac tech. that goes fore everyone else here on the board that's having trouble or needs buying advice, etc.

Nice slap technique!!!! very good clip Mr.duck

oh wow! thanks a lot!!!

thanks you guys for the kind words. you all know this - but playing bass is the best! it never ends. there's always some technique to work on or a new bassline in your head that you gotta find on the fretboard or some crazy thing you heard that would be wayyy fun to be able to play. its the best... and that's why i love my MMs. theyre my friends and my tools.

its pretty obvious from the clip and most of you just know it from knowing me - but im mostly a pick player. well, maybe exclusively but over the years you cant help but pick up a few other things. thats how i am with slap/pop, tapping and finger stuff. playing w/ a pick is what i love to do - its the most fun for me and its all about fun... dont really care if people say "thats not real bass playing".

ive fooled around with slap for a lot of 15 minute sessions over the last few years that ive picked up some stuff that seems like it works. problem is that the music i like is a pretty narrow spectrum... its mostly punk and some metal... i never listen to funk or other music with slap bass so even if my thumb can do a certain motion I still dont know where to take it due to lack of ideas. which is great - more stuff to learn which may lead to more music to like. im gonna have to expand my musical taste tho so i can take on some new lessons... some groove wouldnt hurt :)

anywho. im glad you guys dug the clip and i appreciate the nice things you guys all had to say. it was an impromtu thing, 1 take w/ no clue what i was gonna do. hopefully ill sit down soon and come up with a pre-conceived thing to play and record that too... if not ill just record another random clip with the HS :)
