I was messing with a new photo app on my iPad and thought I'd post this shot with the new knobs. I like.

Why just 3? Just curious

The stacked knobs are small enough that they can be replaced with mini dome knobs, but the volume knob on the Bongos are extra long since they extend into the body routing, unlike the Big Al where they are flush with the pickguard. Nothing is available that I saw that was long enough to replace the single knob.

I might eventually have custom knobs made to spec for some of my Bongos. Maybe some ebony knobs with inlaid olives for the Dargie 5HSP. :D

Yep. Q-Parts. Mini Domes.

Still a work in progress--I need to find some kind of insert to help account for the teeny tiny shaft of the Bongo controls. Right now, the screws are so far in that they orbit around the top of the lower knobs more than just turn. :D

I used to have to fix that with slot cars - where the wheel hole for axles was larger than axle. You can get brass tubing at hobby shops. Get size that fits over shaft. Cut hole for set screw to go through. I don't know how big the gap is for the hole in knob - but the tubing is telescoping and you can put more than one in. Hopefully will not require increasing size of hole in knob if tubing is too big and can't be sanded down a bit.

You can do a simlar thing for the long volume knob. The brass tube would act as the extension piece to connect the Q Part knob on top with some spacer piece under it.

Now my modeling background is starting to get curious. I need check Q-Parts for green sparkle knobs!

Ah, cool. Thanks for the tip. I was just starting to try and figure out what I was going to do. I think you saved me some trial and error money!

Welcome. I am not sure how the knobs attach - I think you said set screws. If you have problems with the set screw not being long enough - let me know - there are ways about that.

Hobby shops are a vanishing breed. If you have trouble finding a Mom & Pop near you - you can do a Google on "K&S Brass Tube" and see what comes up close to you or at least you can send off to.
