Pick Guard question

For a while now I have wanted a chrome pick guard for my bass (matching the face plate under my knobs). Surprised that I couldn't find one, I started thinking there may be a reason. Would the chrome (metal) pick guard have/cause a problem with the magnets in the pickup?

I tried for a very long time to find one for my stingray classic, no luck, but I did get this....

Same company that makes the pickguards for EBMM. I'll dig up their info.

This one is plastic, but I havent managed to scratch it yet. It's very thick and hard...

That would be great. I have an EBMM stingray with the tuss rod adjustment in the headstock. My pick guard is a little harder to find.

I’m constantly changing pick guards then changing them back. Always looking for that one !!!
If you do a quick google search there are loads of companies that will make you one up from either a template you’ve made yourself or from your original pick guard being used as a template (just make sure you can get it back in the same condition)
Materials and patterns are endless

Thanks for the reply. I guess my question is a little more technical. Is there a reason you shouldn't have a chrome pick guard?

Nope. No reason I can think of. I doubt it would effect the sound at all. Even putting pickup covers, which are usually nickel plated brass or something similar, has only a minor effect on the sound.

Your bigger problem is definitely going to be finding the pickguard. You may need to send in a tracing of your current pickguard, or even the guard itself, so that you can have it replicated in mirror plastic. Chrome plated metal will be prohibitively expensive. The cost of machining, plating, etc will quickly mount up to more than the cost of mirror plexiglass.

Oh! Yea np with an actual metal pickguard....just look at a Fender Steve Harris bass. That one is metal.

Just finding a real chrome one is REALLY expensive.
