So, I've been waiting for my Sterling HH for about three months now and I went to my dealer the other day just to play some instruments and make sure I hadn't missed their call. The fellow let me know that the bass had not come in yet but printed me off a sort of receipt almost just detailing what I had ordered, when I had ordered it, the price etc. I stuffed it in my pocket and went about my business.
Later on that evening I pulled it out of my pocket and read the whole thing in anticipation, just to remind me of the gift to myself which will soon arrive. Much to my horror and sadness, I noticed that the receipt says wht pkgd which I can only assume means white pickguard. The bass is going to be black cherry burst and I requested a black pickguard. The thing is that I spent about half an hour with the sales guy when he keyed it in and placed the order making sure everything was correct. I even had him read it back to me when it was all said and done.
If this bass of my dreams gets here after all of this time and has a white pickguard, it's going to be beyond heartbreaking. I've been dealing with this same sales guy since I started playing about 8 or 9 years ago so I'm not gonna go in there fuming at him but I would like it somehow corrected.
From what I understand, EB doesn't sell replacement parts so simply ordering a black Sterling HH pickguard is not an option. If this is not the case, someone please make my day and tell me. If this is not possible, is it possible for a dealer to request a replacement pg and then send the white one back when the black one gets here? I don't want to order one from some third party company and get what may be of questionable quality or fit.
If anyone has any suggestions which would not include having the dealer send the whole bass back to the factory, please let me know. I suppose the first thing I should do is call my dealer and ask about the pg so that if it is ordered in white, perhaps he can contact EB to have it changed to black before it is completed and shipped.
Any other ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks,
The Goat
